Your Birthday!

My birthday is a week before Christmas, so I consider my celebration to start with Thanksgiving and end with New Years. I love the holiday season. My kids go to FL for Christmas (where my ex lives), which puts a little dent in that, but I've learned to make that a week of "me" time.0

"screw it, I'm just a year older and one more step towards the grave" camp
I am old!! No more celebrating for me.0 -
One day0
-
I agree with those in the Birthday Month camp. My birthday falls around Labor Day weekend (first Monday in September), and I really enjoy celebrating my birthday all September long. Others enjoy celebrating with me.0

Somewhere in the middle. I do wish people made a bigger deal of it than they do, though. It's the day after Christmas, so it's usually a disappointment.
I feel your pain! Mine is 6 days before Christmas. Growing up it was always winter break so no in-class party, and then everyone was busy. Anything between dec. 23rd and Jan. 3rd is sooo much harder!0 -
i'm not a big deal person. but i enjoy the "day where calories don't matter" aspect of it. and i like hanging out w/ my friends and chilling and having there be cake. but i wouldn't mind if that were like, any other day.
though, that said, balloons friggin ROCK!0 -
Birthday "week" ?
Nope, full on month of celebrations!
My birthday is in March and everyone always seems to forget the exact day, so I have a bunch of belated celebrations to make up for it. It's a very expensive month...in a 30 day span, it's valentines day, our anniversary, the dog's birthday, my birthday and my guy's birthday. Party party party.0 -
My birthday falls between Christmas and New Year's, so...yeah, people usually forget. If you do happen to remember, just send cash--no need for a big fuss!!:bigsmile:0
-
I get a 'birthday week' and so does my fella, for the week you get 6 small presents and a big one on your birthday. You also get whatever you want in the kitchen all week and whatever you want in the bedroom. Birthday week FTW!0

For all you December babies.. this will make you laugh.. or cry..
I was referring back to a book I got for my birthday a few years ago and saw what my friend signed on it..
"Happy Birthday -AND- Merry Christmas!!
...as wrong as it mat be to get only one gift"
It was a $30 book and a few rounds of drinks, so I didn't mind too much0 -
My birthday was last weekend....the usual for me, a special dinner, movie, and quality time with family. Whenever my birthday falls on a work day I treat myself by taking the day off and pretty much doing nothing! I have always focused more on other people's birthdays than my own...especially my kids'!0

Just birthday night, and I party like it's 1999.0

I will be floating in the Carribean on a cruise for my birthday this January 5th.
Everybody on that ship is gonna know it's my birthday and I don't care! Paaarty in my cabin 9232! yea!0 -
Lucky to even remember. Just like Fathers day and Christmas, I am lucky if i get anything that i did not have to pay for.0

I'd ignore if I could, not in a negative way it's just not really a big deal to me. However, I usually end up celebrating it often throughout the month. My sister's b-day is a week before mine, so we do a combined birthday dinner with the family. My husband's parents are divorced so each of his parents see me separately since they don't get along. And there are 7 November birthdays in my extended family so at Thanksgiving we sing happy birthday to all 7 of us. Too much birthday for me!!0

I don't care so much about the gifts. I'd just like to be able to celebrate the anniversary of my birth a little better!
I'm an only child, so my parents always made a point to separate the days and I got gifts on both (in birthday paper on my birthday) and cake and stuff. But friends were always out of town if we weren't. It's still like that.0 -
I have a BirthDAY. But I make it a weeks worth of epic.0
-
Oh I'm a birthday week (or maybe more) kinda girl. My bf travels for his work so he often isn't here on the actual day so that creates another day that may be a few weeks from the real day.0
-
Man I've been doing it all wrong. I love my birthday and I make sure it's a big deal to everyone even strangers. I'm going to do this birthday week for sure. I am going to get a crown to wear too.0
-
I reckon the older you are, the more you have to celebrate!
I'm thinking of having a pirate party for my 50th (in a couple of years). Had Moulin Rouge theme for my 40th, was abulously fabsolute!
And as for a week ... pfffft!... have you not heard of the twelve days of Kaathmas?!0 -
I have had really awful things happen on my birthdays
I almost feel like they're cursed, so I literally dread them. The only decent one I had in recent years was when I barely left the house on it...

I don't acknowledge my Birthday anymore. :P
My age has crept way beyond how old I actually feel & act.. it's depressing0 -
Could honestly care less, just another day. Once you get passed 21 do they really even matter anymore? This will be the first year in a LOOOONG time that I have even done anything and its really not even for my B-day, it just so happened to work out that I could incorporate a plane ticket to Denver into a b-day present.
Wife on the other hand turns them into week long BS... Oh well.0 -
At least one whole week for my birthday.
Sometimes the whole month.0 -
I want a birthday week *pouts*....but I'm usually just a day. To be fair - my mom ruined my birthday *every year* while growing up...and throughout all of my 20s. She had a knack for ruining it somehow. So I don't look forward to my birthday because it seems something bad always happens. I have all these great expectations in the back of my mind (that I never share) and of course, nothing ever comes to pass. *slinks off to the corner*
Gosh, I sound really emo. :indifferent:
One day...one year....I will be celebrated! Even if its just me celebrating myself. Hope that's not the day of my funeral though. :grumble:0 -
I'm somewhere in the middle I guess. I get to celebrate the DAY of my birthday (which is coming soon *wink wink*
and that's about it !
I do like the idea of the birthday week though !!0 -
My 30th birthday was all month. Every other year is a week.0
-
my birthday has lost it's specialness, post-40, but my wife turns 30 in February, that's a milestone to celebrate!0
-
My birthday's in 8 days. But I pretty much ignore it completely, so it's whatever. No birthday month/week/ or day.0
