Here is an interesting question, what do you keep in your gym bag?
I usually always have:
New Balance MT310
New Balance MT10
2 pair of headphones
Pair of flip flops
2 headbands
Patella band
Knee sleeve
Arm band for cell phone
Lock
Band-aids
Deodarant
Extra pair of socks
And of course my cloths for that day
Do you keep anything strange in your gym bag?

My gym itself is what's in my "gym bag." I carry a small durable nylon drawstring bag in my backpack whenever I plan on leaving the house for more than a few hours at a time because the way I see it the world is my gym and I don't like attaching a schedule to my workouts. In my "gym in a bag" (the nylon drawstring bag) you will find: A suspension trainer, my Polar HRM chest strap+transmitter, a jump rope, a change of workout clothes, a tub of pre-workout mix (I always carry my shaker cup as a water bottle anyway), and a small towel. If the mood strikes me I will find a place that has an overhead point to attach the suspension trainer, an elevated platform of some sort to use as a plyo box (could be a park bench), and a place to change, and get to work.0

What's a SUSPENSION TRAINER? I have an idea you rig it from a tree branch and do - I don't know - pullups, core work? Please tell.0 -

I don't feel like listing all the stuff- so I'll just tell you the clever one, thanks to one of my MFP friends.
I keep a little bottle of peppermint oil in my bag and put a very small dab under my nose before working out. It keeps me from smelling other people. It's awesome!0 -

Wow. I was planning to make my triumphant return to the gym today and I feel so unprepared! I already knew i forgot my lock, but through reading this realize I also don't have my deoderant (I put it on this morning and am not a smelly sweater luckily), and I didn't bring a towel either.
What I did pack:
Water bottle
Phone/headphones/armband
Runners
Socks
Capris
Sports Bra
Workout shirt
Praeventia granola bar
I think I will grab a new lock from the store and go anyway. I want one with a key rather than combo anyway. I can use paper towels if needed. I already have my hair tied up. And if I do get stinky...so be it. It's a short bus ride home. I'm not going to use forgetting these things as an excuse to not go back to them gym today (I haven't gone since spring and am really intimidated at this gym so it's taken a while to psych myself up).0 -

wrist wraps - makes CG bench hurt less
lifting straps - allows for overload on heavy pulling
log book - document success and opportunities to improve
Gold Bond - obvious
heavy bands - speed work
