Palm oil and coconut oil are the only two saturated fats that contain MCFA which means the body can use them as energy directly without any conversion. Excellent energy source x0

I buy Meridian natural peanut butter.

I can get a 1kg pot for really quite cheap from my local wholefoods shop (Norwich), but you can get it online too:

There's a no added sugar and no added salt version too, as well as Organic.

I'm trying to find a healthy peanut butter that basically isn't full of crap but I'm not particularly good at reading/understanding nutritional values unless they are nicely colour coded for me...
suggestions for good peanut butters? (In the UK)
Whole earth peanut butter from morrisons0 -
LOL just eat the peanuts... you'd be better off.
blending peanuts into "butter" does not change the nutrients so I assume this comment was a joke
Trader Joe's brand peanut butter and raw almond butter are fantastic and at a good price
they also have both peanut butter and almond butter with roasted flaxseeds that is very tasty0 -
I think so. Peanut butter is good protein.0

I agree with basically everyone....lol Peanut butter labels are one of the easy ones....Just peanuts should be on ingredients if you are really watching your sodium or if not....peanuts and salt. Enjoy!0

I don't know if you can get PB2 but i believe if you can order it off amazon.com you should try it. I love it and I was a huge peanut butter fan. To me it tastes like fresh peanuts.
Love love PB2!!0 -
Thanks everyone I think I'll try the meridian brand from Holland and Barrett.
Ingredients: Peanuts Whole Skin On (100%)
It's also not as pricey as I thought.
My local Sainsburys sells the Meridian brand - cheaper than H&B I believe xx0 -
Don't eat empty calories! Eat protein bars for lunch. That will really help0

After thought....making your own is really quite easy as well. you just need peanuts(not roasted in any oils), coconut oil and salt. you can find the exact quantities of each online. I have done it a couple of times and I like that I can control the consistency.0

Try not to snack at all Drink lots of water!
Good luck to all!0 -

I wanted to know this too, thanks Dragon Fly :-)0 -
I've been eating MaraNatha organic Peanut Butter
I've read numerous reviews and thought it was good!
It contains Peanuts, Organic palm oil, unrefined cane sugar and sea salt.
So does that mean I should find something else? I've tried PB2 and it's ok but I've heard mix reviews about that as well!!0 -
Make your own is the best/cheapest option. Otherwise Meridian is 100% peanuts and reasonable. I think Myprotein also do their own in large jars :-)

I would get what has been suggested. Peanuts only or peanuts and salt. adding palm oil and sugar would defeat the purpose for me.
PB2 is expensive and not the same although if someone gave it to me, I would eat it. I prefer the real thing0 -
Meridian the best quality I found, they sell it in Holland and Barret and other health stores so you can check around for prices, the 1kg bottle works really cheap (around £5, VERY worthy), otherwise I tend to buy Sainsbury's organic £2, because it is local and convenient or the whole earth pb as well. outside of those I haven't found anything really good.0

My mom used to make our own peanut butter. I prefer the Smucker's Natural or Kroger Brand Natural (in the US), but you do have to be carfeful--one of the natural brands still had sugar! Others have said it, but peanuts & salt (and that should be it).
Many don't like the fact that natural peanut butter separates at room temperature and is too hard in the refrigerator, so I thought I'd share my solution to that, too... I mix it and refrigerate it, and then microwave it for 15-30 seconds to help make it more spreadable (just enough to take the chill off). Works great.0
