The kind without bones/skin, like what can be purchased at Costco or Trader Joe's, can be used just like canned tuna. Salmon salad, salmon fritters. It's just cooked salmon.
The kind with bones/skin is something I will not eat0 -
I've always been curious to try canned Salmon. Growing up in a family in the fish business I guess you could say I'm "spoiled" when it comes to seafood since everything I ate/eat is always freshly caught aside from canned tuna. I can tell you that bones in your fish is not a good sign normally it means it wasn't cleaned properly so if it's got bones/skin in it I may not be buying it after all lol.0

Salmon cakes is the only way I can eat it. I think there's a recipe in the Betty Crocker cookbook....0

Throw it out?
My mother ruined canned salmon for me when she tried to make a salmon loaf. You know, like a meat loaf but with salmon. That killed it for me...0 -
Salmon is a great source of omega 3s. Red (sockeye) salmon is much better than pink salmon. Treat it just like canned tuna. I mix it with a bit a mayo and hot peppers. Voila!0

Boil your pasta, while that cooks dry fry (good non stick pan required) some sliced spring onions, pour in a half glass of white wine, add 100gms low fat soft cheese and stir til it disolves, stir in salmon and simmer gently for a couple of mins, add drained pasta and mix. Serves 4 with a side salad

Here's a bunch of recipes to have a look at: http://allrecipes.com/recipes/everyday-cooking/convenience-cooking/canned-food-recipes/canned-seafood/canned-salmon/top.aspx
edit: The bones are a calcium source and the skin has high omega-3 oils. All perfectly edible!0 -
Don't throw it away, what a damn waste, awful advice! Make salmon cakes, very good.0

^^This....salmon loaf is awesome!! Even my kids love it!!0 -
Something i do all the time:
pour out the juice, and mix with mayo while cutting it up with fork.
When done, either put it on bread or eat it with crackers.
i presonally would recommend this idea with canned chicken instead. (:0 -
i must know how this is done! sounds delicious!0

I concur! I made some salmon croquettes last week. I would suggest to remove as much bone and the skin!0 -

Love me some canned salmon...eat it!

Egg white omelet with tuna (put the tuna on the flat egg once the egg has cooked), add vegetables (I add spinach, red pepper and onion), sprinkle some oregano, then close the omelet and put salsa on top! The salsa honestly makes it so yummy, and salsa is low calorie.0

Thank you so much everyone who gave me ideas and recipes and links. Awesome. Think I'll try the patties (or cakes) first.0

I make salmon loaf and use most of the bones, I just don't use the little round ones if there are any, they are a little harder. I save the juice and add a little milk, an egg I think, chopped onion, cracker crumbs and bake. I'm trying to write down these ingredients from memory so I may have forgotten something. I'll let you know later the exact amounts etc. I don't happen to have a can on hand at the moment but I usually do have. It's good and good for you!0

Fish pate: pick out the skin and the large spine bones. leave all the small ones for calcium. Mash up with some flavoured low fat soft cheese (Philadelphia type) and black pepper if you wish.0

Allergic.
Use it as a doorstop.0 -
The salmon from Trader Joe's had no skin or bones in it. I made salmon patties tonight (salmon, egg, cracker crumbs, minced and sauteed onion). Excellent. I'll be doing it again soon.0
