Yes. I don't like it because the way it's designed, it ort of puts people in the mindset to stay under. I wish tree was a band, maybe yellow or some other color, where at about 100 or 200 or some number, above and below, where it would shift from green to yellow, then, if you go above that, it goes red. So, the goal would be to stay in the yellow.

I hadn't really taken offense to the color, but if you think about it, it should be red when we are UNDER eating our calories, right? The warning should come if we are not eating enough calories....off to change my settings..
Totally agree with this. If the total is really the calories you should be eating for the day, why show red if you go 1 over? Maybe for way over, but I think it should also show red if you are under to encourage you to eat enough. Too many people on here going way under. Maybe the red would clue them in. Or maybe they'd ignore it.

    YES!!!
I also like the idea of yellow, maybe 100 below and 100 above OR allow us to set it for which we'd prefer. I'm trying desperately to get and KEEP my calories up.

Or maybe put the green in the goal range. Use red on both extremes and yellow as you near or pass. Everyone wants to see green it seems.

I was JUST saying that to my boyfriend last night! I was like, -33 is nothing! i'm sure i did some untracked activity yesterday (i have two dogs, and frequently take the stairs at work) that would have kept me within or under goal. But its STILL disappointing to see those angry red numbers!!

^ I agree with this! I think if you're 1-50 below or above it should be green, 50-100 below or above should be yellow, anything after that should be red. I also don't think it should say "so and so completed their food diary" when you're 10 calories over... I'm sure at some point in the day you did end up burning 10 extra calories, but still, I don't want to feel like I didn't even try!

Red or or green 100, 200 over under I dont care as long as I continue to lose monthly
Now if my bank balance is in the red thats a problem

    Word.

Wait - did I just really type, "word?" Is it 1986 again?

Really, I don't care what color shows up. I'm more interested in the numbers. And, seeing as how I'm only on maintenance - not trying to lose - I'm not concerned if I go over. I'm more interested in keeping it close and getting close to my macros.

    ETA: Oh, and purple rules.

It doesn't bother me too much either. But I do like how on the FitBit site if you're within 50 calories of your goal it says you nailed it.

It should turn yellow 100 calories before your goal, and at 0, but red for even 1 calorie over. If you are even 1 calorie over, you didn't make it. If your bank account is 1 penny over drawn, It's in the red. I swear people just don't want to accept their failures. If you can't stay under your goal, accept that you don't have the discipline, and change your weekly weight loss goal from 2 pounds to 1 pound a week. Then you can see green numbers again!

No. I hate it when my check register is in the red, but with calories, I don't mind because there's no $30 fee for going in the red!

Couldn't care less about the color of the number. I just focus on the big stuff, calories deficit, hitting the macros, nutrient dense food, exercise, and let the little stuff take care of itself.

Or you could exercise and burn 53 calories and you wont be over anymore.. pretty simple

I know what you mean. What I hate is when I go over a little on carbs, but when I minus the fiber then I am really not over.

I have issues with that too. My protein is often way over my carb, but that makes me feel more full and I'm still under calories but I HATE seeing that red!

There's no such thing as too much protein.

    OVer is over?

Have an issue with the red, don't go over. Or disable the color on your computer screen.

I am quite happy when it turns red because it means I reached my goal, and I am fueled for tomorrow's workout.

    No.

I only hate it when I'm 1,000 over for the day.

lol like today I'm 53 calories over and I know it's not that bad but the redness of my remaining calories is pissing me off :P I think there should be a yellow option for when your less than like 100 calories over lmao. & that is the end of my complaining :)

No. It's just a number.....a target.....nothing more nothing less.........If you are upset about being over I hope you are also upset when you are under as it is just as bad.

If you stay under, you wont see red. Easy enough and kind of the whole point of this.
  • It bothers me a little, I have to admit. Even if its just a little over. It just motivates me more to keep under the daily calorie goal.

Plus, I set up my exercise goals to 0 so I add everything - walking up the stairs, walking fast etc. My only criteria is that my heart needs to be pounding and I'm catching my breath at the end (and wow, that came out wrong ;))

Red's my favorite color, so I don't really care.

I do think "... and was within 100 calories of her goal," would be a healthier message than celebrating "... and was under her calorie goal."

I think it promotes under-eating and obsessive behavior, ie "I'm over by 50 calories so I'm going to run up and down my steps for five minutes."

Not true. If over by 3 calories, it's red. It's the wrong message.

This is one of the things I love about Weight Watchers. You get those little extra points you can use any time. So ultimately, you can never really go over (unless you truly overeat). I can gain exercise calories to use that day or three days later (or whatever).

I was in the red for calories Tuesday night by about 600 calories, but I didn't use up all the extra weekly points, so I really wasn't in the red. I just make up for it later and I don't care what color my calories are on here.

But really I hate it more when my carbs are in the red and my protein is in the green. The SHAMEEEE.

Stop letting the quirks of a website dictate how you feel about the way you eat, the way you workout and your progress.

Besides, you realize that a lot of food entries can be WAY off as well as the MFP calorie burns.

YES! This happened to me ONCE and I was ecstatic that I had it exactly... but it wouldn't tell me "under" and it was red! Boo!

I think there should be a special color for when your within 100 calories high or low around your goal. Espeically if you hit the magic number on the dot!! I though getting the number exactly is what they want!?!
