    Mine are:
    1. Not to buy any new clothes in 2013 unless there is a genuine emergency, like my running shoes spontaneously combusting. I truly have enough clothes =)
    2. To use my every-other Friday off to meal plan for the following two weeks. Goal is 4 homecooked meals per week, 1 meal out with friends, and 2 nights of leftovers

I actually don't have any new years resolutions...it makes it like there is too much pressure to complete them! I take life one day at a time, and change what needs to be changed, but I don't think you should pick one day of the year to pick what you want to change about yourself for the next year...events happen that will change your goals for the year and the resolutions

I actually like the pressure it seems to bring lol But I totally get that it's not working for everyone :)

    1) Read More
    2) Get more than 5 hours sleep a night
    3) Lose the rest of my weight, I've lost 87 out of 100, hopefully by March 13th, my birthday. I'll accept by Memorial Day...
    4) Have 1 night or weekend afternoon out with my wife a month with someone watching our daughter
    5) Run a half Marathon
    6) Keep my weight off

    My 2012 resolutions were

    1) Lose weight - Successful
    2) Keep it off - non issue since I'm not at goal
    3) Have a night/afternoon out with my wife once a month. - Managed 11 of 12
    4) Read more - Did well until I started doing something for fitness other than just the ellipticals
    5) Get more than 5 house sleep at night - Didn't do so well

I've already started on a couple of mine....

    1) Quit smoking (I'm about 1 week into this one).
    2) Get my Personal Trainer Certificate - I'm registered for a seminar Jan. 26th & 27th!
    3) Reduce my body fat from 25% to 20% (I swear I'm not stealing this! It really IS my goal!)
    4) Get certified to teach at least ONE more format that I currently teach (Kickboxing and/or Barre)

    Last year it was:
    1) To get to 145 pounds (a loss of 17 lbs.). I'm ONE POUND away!!! (with only 3 weeks to go!)
    2) Get a gym membership and go at least 3X/week.
    3) To become certified to teach at least one fitness class - Feb. 24th I became licensed to teach Zumba! I started teaching in April.

I had never made New Year's Resolutions previously because I found that I never stuck with them. Last year I decided to do anything it took - and I have. Once I realized how much FUN it was to actually achieve these goals! :)

Right? I also think they're fun :) Congrats and good luck :)

    1. Skydiving
    2. Base Jump from the New River Gorge Bridge. I have to be less than 200lbs by October for this, currently 30 pounds away. I'll make it.
    3. Do ten pull ups in a row. For everyone that has this listed, it took me nearly 6 months to do 1, but now I can pound out about 6 in succession with no pause and I can do 3 sets that way, if I don't do anything else. I like to split it up with 2 set/6, then 2 set/3 a half stick. I notice that doing the latter greatly helps with the former.
    4. Complete the Couch to 5k and then run a 5k.

Well until I quit smoking a few months ago. My resolution was going to be Mark Twain's resolution. I resolve never to smoke while I am asleep!
Next people who make new years resolutions.... are called resolutionists.

Like... I resolve never to eat while I'm asleep? lol

they aren't resolutions....they are commitments...i'm not hoping on a wing and prayer that I "may" do this...but rather I AM doing this...

    - taking up heavy lifting.
    - losing the last of my unwanted weight
    - getting my daughter more active
    - studying for my LSAT
    -taking HR classes
    - doing a mud run or a spartan run (although given where I am location wise...this may have to wait till 2014...i ain't worried)

  • Hmmm...where to start.

-Better Dad and Hubby (always room to improve there)
-Hit my target weight goal (should be around March).
    -Reduce body fat.
    -Improve strength.
    -Continue eating healthy
-No more shin splints (stretch before and after workouts)
-Encourage and support others in living healthier.

Yep, that's it (subject to change)

Last year I don't even remember if I made any resolutions, but mid-February I made the decision to exercise and eat better. In August I quit drinking.

This year I have some plans.

    1) I will sing twice EVERY week, even if it's just warming up. It's time to get those muscles in shape too!

    2) I will reach my weight goal and start working on body composition/ building muscle.

    3) Tying in with #2, I will be ready for the Tough Mudder. I told a good friend that if I felt ready enough, she'd be getting an early text on New Year's Day. I plan on sending that text!!!

Oh wait, I just thought of one! I wanna do Couch to 5k this next year! I can't really run yet (I have asthma, made worse by exercise), so I have trouble with my breathing. But my sister is getting me new running shoes for Christmas, and I'm going to go for it! I want to be able to run!

C25K is a great program. It mixes up the pace and doesn't hit you with things that are too difficult right away. I did this a couple of years ago and I loved it. It builds you up over time both physically and mentally. You do get pushed at times but it's never to a breaking point.

What I did was set milestones for myself. I walked out the 5K before starting and just sort of took notes as to notable spots along the route. I made it an entire loop from my apartment and when I was done my run I would use the 5 minutes to walk back home. It worked out really well. Some of the land marks I used to measure progress were as folllows.

    Philbricks Sporting Goods Store
The Bridge between Rollinsford and Dover
    The beginning of Park Street
    The Park on Park street
    New York Street
    The Train Tracks
Completing the loop to my apartment.
    The Train tressel
    Reds Shoe Barn
Laundramat on Broadway and the blinking traffic light on Broadway.

Each time i hit a mile stone I was uber psyched. It's great to set additional goals as markers.
At the end of the nine weeks I was able to do more than 5K in the 30 minutes alotted time.

I hope your able to stick with it beacuse it's a really rewarding feeling making it. :)

My goals for 2013 are as follows:

Buy a car (Most likely in Feb or March)
Road trip to either Philly or DC (Depends on when the Revs play them)
Get more hikes in this summer.
    Go swimming more often.
Check out the climbing gym near where I live.
Put money away for a road trip across the country in 2013.
Save up paid time off at work so I can essentally take a month off for the road trip in 2013.
Replace my bed and couch (Both are pretty beat up and worn out.)
