Any 5'7" ladies with before and afters?!

I am 5'7" (I posted my pics & stats below).
I have done a lot of internet searching in the past to find out what is an appropriate weight for a 5'7" female in 18-25 age range. Most charts I saw generally said 120-150lbs and said "big/small-bonedness" (Small/Med/Large bodyframe) and amount of body fat/muscle plays a big role. To figure out your body frame, there's a trick where you put your thumb & index finger around the smallest part of your wrist.
Thumb & index finger overlap: Small body frame
Thumb & index finger touch: Medium
Thumb & index finger do not touch: Large bodyframe/big-boned
So if you have a small bodyframe, then 120lbs is fine. But if you are big-boned and 120lbs, it will probably look sickly thin. I was 120lbs at 5'7" when I was 16 and I looked like a skinny gross scarecrow (Awkward teenage stage). I find weight standards hard to go by because muscle and fat weight can trick you. I have been a flabby 140lbs and a toned 140lbs, it looks completely different.
I would say, go by what you see in the mirror and keep track of your bust-waist-hip measurements.
-My stats-
Starting/heaviest weight: 144lbs (Fall 2012)
Lightest weight: 130lbs (2010)
Current weight: 136lbs (Winter 2012)
Goal weight: 130lbs
My progress:
Date......weight.....bust-waist-hips
11/05.....144lbs.....37-31-39
11/12.....142lbs.....37-31-39
11/19.....140lbs.....36-30-39
11/26.....140lbs.....36-30-38.5
12/03.....138lbs.....36-29.5-38.5
12/10.....136lbs.....36-29-38
12/17......
12/24......
12/31.....
Before: 144lbs in February 2012 vs. 138lbs in November 2012.
Mostly difference in body tone.
You have done so awesome! Your recent measurements are almost exact to mine! And "a skinny gross scarecrow (Awkward teenage stage)." ... sounds so sad! lol but I know what you mean! I think I will just have to keep measuring like you said. Sometimes I'm not happy with what I see in the mirror. I mean I'm proud of how far I've come, but then I'm always going to feel like I need to look better. I guess it's a self conscious issue. Erg, gotta work on that too! haha, Thanks a bunch for the feedback!0 -
Mirrors & lighting can be deceiving! I look okay in my mirror & the bathroom mirror... But in dressing rooms with bright fluorescent lights, I can see every line/bump/untoned part of my body >__>0

Ugh, I feel you on that. My least favorite place to try on clothes is Target! With the bright lights and the glare off the red walls.. I see ev.er.y.thing! Either way, you look awesome!0 -
I'm also 5"7, weigh 143 lbs and have very similar measurements. I have a medium frame and I think I look too thin at 120 lbs so my goal is 130. But 120 is within the healthy BMI range so you should be ok.0
-
I don't have any pics (not sure how to post them yet either...) but I'm 5'7", small frame, and I'm almost always somewhere between 125-130 depending on what I'm doing, eating, etc. Unless everyone's lying to me, I appear to be healthy and toned, not sickly
Though, on a side note, in high school I weighed closer to 120 but had ZERO muscle - was skinny-fat (I think that's what people on here call that - not sure) and was a few sizes larger. Having muscle tone but weighing slightly more looks better on my frame.0 -

I'm 5' 7" and my goal is 148 pounds. I'm so happy that my index finger and thumb don't touch! I have only 3 pounds to go and it is taking a long time:)0

I feel the same way! I can't weight to reach my goal...bc my index finger and thumb don't touch either and what I see in your profile picture is what I'm trying to achieve.
Great job at almost reaching your goal.0 -
I'm 5' 7" and I currently weigh 172 lbs. My highest weight was 260-ish lbs (preggo w/ large-ish baby no. 2). I have lost 23 lbs in the last two years since starting my current job (slow but certainly steady). My goal is 150-155. I was 135 lbs when I walked down the isle 7 years ago and was too thin then. I think 150-155 is idea for me. I'm curvy (no measurements but I have D boobs and hips and long shapely legs). I don't know about that wrist thing....my middle finger and thumb overlap slightly.0
-
According to the BMI, 120-160 is the perfect weight for someone that is 5'7 so my goal is 160 at least0
-
I think that whatever weight you are at is perfect for you! Your pictures are beautiful!0

I'm pretty much the same except for the waist and bust measurement (I have little to nothing up there haha). Are your wrists small? My wrists are 6'' and my doctor said thats a really good indicator. I was told 125 to 130 is where I should shoot.
This caught my attention-- I have 6" wrists as well. I started out at 160, got down to 130, and have been maintaining at 135 for the past 2 years. I've noticed that if I eat super well, ultra-low carb, don't drink much and work out 4+ times/week I'll get down to 133, but if I eat well with occasional splurges, enjoy the odd bit of bread, have a few drinks a week and work out 2+ times/week I'll stay constant at 135. Kind of makes me think that's the weight for me. For a difference of two pounds, life's too short not to have that extra glass of wine.
My current measurements are: bust 33 (also petite on top!), waist 27, hips 36.
I think so much of your ideal waist is really dependent on your body shape. Some of the ladies were mentioning that they're a D on top, so if you didn't have the hips to balance that out, you'd look pretty awkward. Also, those appendages have to weigh a fair bit, so while 150 on ME might be chubby, it might be perfect on them. I have small bones, small boobs and 21.9% body fat, so I think for me, 135 is the weight to maintain.
Whew! Wordy!0 -
Wow, these photos are amazing!
I'm 5'7 and I hope to get down to 20% body fat eventually which should take me to around 65 kg's. I''d love to see some more before and afters! It's great to see some people who have a similar shape to me and what they ended up with after all that hard work.0 -
5'7" here, 39 yrs old (for a couple more months anyway). About 1.5yrs ago I weighed 158, down to about 127 (varies between 125-128, but has been hovering around 127 since vacation and holiday parties). I weighed more in my younger thirties, not sure of my max weight, probably in the 170's. I am thrilled with my current weight. I get tons of compliments and only my mom say I'm too thin... (she is never happy, either too big or too small)
Before and after: 1yr ago and now (recent)
face: probably 10 yrs ago and now

Hey Im 5'7 ,small framed, 150 aiming for 135, and right now I feel like 1 have 2 different people bodies attached to me , LOL. I have a 25-26 waist ,while I have a 40-41 hips , and a long waist . So I feel like a skinny girl on top, but my lower half is a whole different story! Im not sure if this weigh distribution would change the ideal weight I should be at, but I guess Ill find out when I get there0

I think 145- 150 is a good goal weight for someone our height! however, it does depend on your frame!
I'm 5'6 and 145 is my total end all be all will be happy at GW. My build is that of wide hips, tight waist, big boobs. If I went to 130 or even GASP 120 I'd be too thin for my frame.
I agree, it depends on your frame. You may not know what you want to get to until you get there, in weight.0 -
I'm 5'7", 145 lbs, and my measurements are 38.5" in the hips, 29" at my waist, and 36" in my bust and I've done no weight training yet, mostly cardio. I'm small frame and have been told that 120-130 is the perfect weight range, but I'm not sure if that's too thin or not. Anybody have similar results or before and afters?
Start: 150 (no before, I only started taking pics again half way)
height: 5'7
goal (met): 120lbs
120 (left)
120 (right)

I'm 5'7 3/4. My profile picture shows my progress pic. My starting weight was 248, I'm 162 now and my goal is 155.0
-
I'm 5'8 and my target weight is 133 lbs. I'm currently 165, was over 190 at my highest, and around 147 before I gained weight.0
-
I'm 5'7" and I have a large frame. I used this military calculator and found out I have a lean body mass of 118. So at 120 I would be considered really underweight. A healthy weight just above underweight would be 150 lbs! So that's the goal I'm shooting for... 155 - 150.
Here's the link I used, you'll need to take your measurements: http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/mbf/
Thanks for this! I was aiming for 155 anyway, but this confirmed that 155 will be a healthy weight for myself. Just under halfway between the "normal" range0 -
i just wanna thank everyone who posted in this thread! i've been having a very rough patch, but seeing these posts made me realize that i can't just give up! i want to be the one posting before and afters, not the one who keeps viewing these threads and not making any progress herself! congrats everyone!0

Bumpinggg! I am 5'6.5" and started at 230.6 and am currently at 172.6, so im 58 lbs down and went from a size tight 14 to between a 10 and a 12.. i wish i could say i dropped a bunch of sizes losing almost 60 lbs but unfortunately not.. even when i was 155/160 in high school and athletic i was always a size 12, soi cant see myself being much smaller. I am aiming for 155 because i am big boned. I might get down to the 140/145 area depending on how i feel at 155.0

Weight is so crazy. I'm 5'8" but with the same measurements as the OP, and I fluctuate between 160-165, she's 145? A 20lb difference (and no, I don't have weirdly fat legs. I do have really muscular legs though!). Just goes to show that the scale number is pretty meaningless, I think--let's all measure with strength and pants sizes :laugh:0
-
Im close, 5'8". In high school when I was my lightest, 130-135# i was skinny fat, i think if i had toned up I would have been a healthy 140 but smaller jeans sizes! (slaps forehead, wishes i had given a damn back then). Currently Im trying to get down to around 145, but my ultimate goal weight, is 130. I dont think my body has changed too much since then, as far as everything redistributing itself goes. 120-130 is still healthy, just depends on all the particulars.0

Hi,
I'm 24 and right now 136 without any maintaining. Used to be 122 and that's the weight I'm aiming for. I do have large frame. Not even close to touch my index finger with thumb, plus I was professionally measured and I have high density bones (explains why I've never had anything broken ). I do have large shoulders and I think boyish figure, with full chest 34DD.
At my heaviest I was 165, and I felt terrible about myself.
Getting back on track to tackle those pounds!!!0 -

Feeling exactly the same way. I am not settling for okay...I want a rock star body!0 -
Cool posts. I am going for 150; but would love to be 140 again.0

5'7" 45 year old mom of three. You can see my pics in my profile. The last two are me at 145. Most people say I must have heavy bones when they hear I'm between 145-150! If I go below 140 I feel weak and look bad.... especially my face.0
