Does anyone else get built up mucus when they run?

I've been doing C25K and I've noticed that when I run, mucus just kind of overwhelms me. I start feeling it build and build when I'm working hard, so I'm constantly having to SNNNNNNERK and HACK HACK. I have to stop my careful breathing to swallow or I'll get spit tendrils blowin' through my lips.
Needless to say, this is very irritating.
I don't smoke nor do I allow smoking inside my home (outside is fine).
I don't have asthma or any illnesses. I'm not currently sick.
I breathe through my nose and out of my mouth during the running bits.
What gives? Anyone else have this problem?
EDIT: I run at the gym.

Just Spit. You can curtsey while you do, it makes it more ladylike.0

I'm sure my fellow gym mates can appreciate wads o' spit on the floor. :flowerforyou:0 -
if it really was that bad, I 'd just hock in a towel mid run. **** other people, do what you gotta do. I rip *** in the middle of squats all the time.0

Oh good, I thought I was just gross. That's most of the reason I've come to prefer outdoor running - the world is my tissue box. I will unabashedly blow my nose into my shirt, or wipe my nose on my hand and then wipe that on my shirt. I'm gonna wash it later anyway, I figure, so it shouldn't matter. At the gym I bring a handkerchief to serve double duty as both a sweat rag and a snot rag. I wish I knew why it happened, because it is gross, but I have no idea how to stop it so I just deal. I figure blowing my nose into my handkerchief (and I always make sure to wipe down the treadmill after, paying special attention to the cupholder the handkerchief was stuffed into) is better than just letting the rivers of mucus run freely over my face and neck and drip all over the treadmill.0

This is just so yes.0 -
I get it, but only when I run outside in the cold. I think it has to do with my exercise-induced asthma, which is a lot worse when the weather is dry and cold. I'm not sure why it would happen to you in the gym, unless you have undiagnosed asthma.0
