My snack drawer at work is getting low. Ideas? :)

Good morning/evening... depending :)

My snack drawer at work is getting very low. What are some snacks you like to put into your snack drawer if you have one?

Rude comments can stay out... I am pre-diabetic and need to eat every few hours. So I need a stash. :)

Why not replenish it with stuff you enjoy eating?

Because that would be Oreos and Reese's PB cups :)
  • almonds, dates, raisins, dry breakfast cereal, dried cranberries, carob chips

I have mine all mixed in mini bags.

Trail mix--peanuts, almonds, cashews, raisins, m&m's....provided you can have raisins and m&m's (sugar content?). Make sure to bring a 1/4 cup measuring cup so you only have one serving at a time.

I also always have granola bars in yummy flavors (I choose ones that are 140 calories or less and made with all-natural ingredients).

I don't keep anything in my snack drawer that is in a big bag or box like chips, pretzels, crackers...I don't need to be left to by guestimating devices!

Beef/Turkey Jerky, Almonds, Low Glycemic/Low Sugar Granola Bars, Low Sugar Protein Bars.

That's pretty much what I have in mine on a regular basis (mine have sugar though, as I'm not diabetic). I eat every 2-3 hours just because I like to!

I prefer nuts, pretzel rods or even some cookies. You can eat anything you want just make them fit into your calorie intake.

I love the Emerald Brown Sugar Cinnamon almonds. They make them without oil so it's barely more calories than plain almonds and extra tasty.

I also keep Wasa crackers (the light rye ones) in a gallon ziploc in my desk and then keep laughing cow light cheese wedges in the fridge.

Other than that, I usually bring in cut up fruit, yogurt, string cheese, etc.

I have smoked almonds, dark chocolate kisses (for the occasional sweet tooth) and granola bars. My office director regularly brings in fruit to share as well.

Mini-oranges, individual servings of nuts and trail mix, and cheese sticks (although you have to keep them in the fridge) are my go-to

Oatcakes, almonds, rice pudding or custard in a tub (unsure of your diabetic requirements, I realise they might be high in sugars), rice cakes, dried fruit, olives, cheese triangles (they don't all have to be refrigerated, read the labels), sun dried tomatoes.

I'm hungry now, need food :grumble:

I don't want people thinking that I am an airhead... I just like new ideas. I get bored with the same old sometimes and like to hear what other people like to eat too :)

trail mix, but go easy on the dried fruits in it bc they really bring up the sugar
    nuts
veggie sticks (SNyders of Hanovers makes good ones)
Calbees snapea crisps. they are freaking good!!

Raisins or yogurt-covered raisins, granola bars (Kashi Dark Chocolate Coconut -- mmm....), almonds & mixed nuts (Emerald Sweet & Salty Dark Chocolate & Peanut Butter flavor mixed nuts -- mmm....), Skinny Cow Clusters & chocolate wafer bars Stacy's Pita Chips (variety of flavors), roasted soy nuts from Publix, Archer Farms (Target) freeze-dried Salted Edamame.

The "real" roasted soy nuts & the freeze-dried Salted Edamame (sounds totally weird, I know) totally satisfy my salt cravings, and they're soybeans, so really high protein, which is good, too!

I keep a jar of peanut butter and some spoons in my snack drawer :glasses:

Also some packets of instant miso soup, grits, and oatmeal; plus regular snack stuff like granola bars, popcorn, and cheese/cracker packs. Yes, the ones with the red stick :flowerforyou:

I keep bread and peanut butter at my desk. The days I am really hungry between meals a 1/2 sandwhich goes far! Usually about 210-220 calories and a good source of protein and carbs and fats!

Both Emerald & Blue Diamond almonds in the tall container (as opposed to a can of nuts) have lids that are 1/4 cup, for easy measuring. Blue Diamond also has marks on the side to show 1 oz. servings. But that's the same as the 1/4 cup lid.
  • I totally have a snack stash at my work. On my lifestyle change I snack all the time. I am not diabetic (So obviously kick out the things you can't have) but here are some things I personally keep in my stash:

-Rice cakes (either plain or apple/cinnamon kind)
    -Small jar of Peanut Butter
-Fiber one bars (sometimes all I need is a little chocolate)
    -Ghiradhelli dark chocolate squares
    -Greek yogurt
    -Apples
    -Bananas
-Raw nuts (no salt) like almonds, walnuts, pecans
-Protein powder (that I can mix with water)

This is just some stuff I keep around. I work 8hrs a day and I am a manager of a small business so I do not get an actual "lunch" time and we do not have a microwave so I find myself doing most of my snacking during the daytime then having lunch after I get home at 2. It works out :) I just make sure to have things around me that will keep me full.

I usually just have yoghurt & cheese and fruit with me every day to nibble on as I feel nibbly - but I also usually have something in the desk for those days Im a little extra nibbly - last week it was popcorn and pistachios - I have a little bowl that holds between 1/4 & 1/2 a cup so I just fill it and put the rest away - right now all that's left is some single serving applesauce's, some crackers (parmesan triscuits) and a bit of chocolate that Im pretty sure wont last till the end of day now that I noticed it. Anything that can go into a container or is sealed so it wont spoil would work.
  • Granola Bars, if you don't want to keep a jar of Peanut Butter I love those single portions. They are also quick on the go food to keep in your purse etc. Buying prepacked snacks are expensive so I put snacks in Ziplock bags and count the amount and write down the calories right on the bag for easy logging. It is so easy to get lost in snacks so I can actually keep track. Pudding cups also they sell sugar free or just eat the regular kind they are not too high in calories and it will kill the chocolate crave plus it is a comfort food.
