Melters, feeders, and other characters

A few weeks ago, I was called a "melter" by someone on MFP. I think this is a term for people who lose fat "easily", or at least perceived to be able to. (In this specific case, it was likely meant to be derogatory...and I was called that because of my audacity to assert that most people can still lose weight even when eating more than 1200 daily calories...but that's a different post.)

Just now, I read where someone referred to their SO as a "feeder". I presume that is someone who promotes overeating by encouraging someone else to eat more.

(And I was once jokingly called a "breeder" by a homosexual friend of mine, a slang term used by some homosexual guys in reference to heterosexual guys/couples...but since this is a diet related forum post, let's stick to the topic and ignore this one.)

So, what other (diet related) terms/labels are there like these?

I know this is probably off topic but I'd only ever heard the term "feeder" to mean someone that is sexually aroused or gratified by watching someone else eat glutonously/eat purposely to gain weight.

That phrase doesn't mean what you think it means.

Oh look, she beat me to it.
  • Feeders and people who sabotage your diet. My Hubby has a problem with this. He has a habit of "treating" my hard work with cake or chocolate. It drives me insane when I am on a roll, when I am not, it can be my weakness.

People seem to forget that people with eating issues (addictions etc) have to face their problem everyday. You have to eat to live and rewarding good behaviour will only sabotage your good work.

A motto I go by now is "You are not a dog, stop treating your good behaviour with food."

It's the only way I can stop using food myself as a reward x

I can't wait to learn that my assumed definition of "melter" is actually something sexual too.

(Is that all you people think about??? o.O )

    This:

    Feederism
Feederism (also called feedism) describes sexual relationships where both members obtain gratification from the gaining of body fat. Feederism refers to the acts of feeding, encouraging eating, or being served large quantities of food. Sexual pleasure is derived from the act of eating itself, and/or from the process or fantasy of becoming fatter. Pleasure may be derived from specific changes to specific areas of the body.
The National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance claims to specifically condemn feederism, claiming that the practice typically involves coercing a person to become larger but NAAFA has had a long standing relationship with Dimensions Magazine a web site and forum dedicated to feederism.[2] NAAFA compares this to the practice of coercing a person to become thinner and instead focuses on acceptance.

    Well, that's a relief.

Wait a second...that's even worse. So that means that of those three terms I referenced initially, I only had the correct definition of one of them.

...or is someone now going to tell me that "breeder" doesn't mean what I thought it did???
