  • Is that the diet pill that causes you to poop out any fat that you eat? I heard its horrible and if your eating make sure your near a toilet at all times!

I wouldn't waste money if I was you, you need fats in your diet.

Yup, I tried it. Didn't do a thing for me except drain my wallet - luckily, only 25 bucks.

Side effects include anal leakage. Save your money and just learn to eat well and move more.

My mom and my best friend did. . . and had to wear a pad because of the anal leakage.

A friend was losing weight for her wedding and took those. We were all set for the beach, and she grabbed a handful of peanuts and walked out the door popping the handful in her mouth. We didn't make it to the beach. She didn't make it to the bathroom. No thanks!

I did for a short time. I stopped, waiting a few days, ate something fatty, and was in the Walmart bathroom for an hour. lol. Sorry TMI. It's bad and unpredictable and so not worth it!

I take some before a hike to leave a pooh trail for the search hounds just in case I get lost in the woods.
Other than that, Alli is of little use.

Only experience I have with it was my doc asking if I wanted to try it, and then her giving me reasons I probably shouldn't.

Basically it stops you from absorbing excess fat in your diet and has, as some have said, rather unpleasant side effects.

Just as effective, with less expense and none of the side effects, is to work on lowering your intake of unhealthy fats.

I tried 2 bottles. I had no side ffects with it, I guess because I followed directions best I could. But the most important thing is, both times I just wasted 30 bucks because it didnt help at all. nothing. nada. I was looking for at least two pounds from one bottle but neither time did I even lose an ounce. Funny when I left it alone completely after my second bottle, I started to lose. Thats weird.

And yet they still market it as the solution of the century.

Listen, find exercise you like. Find healthy meals and supplements you like.

Give exercise a month and log how great you feel after each workout. Try to eat as much "real" food as possible and don't buy food marketed as "diet" food b/c that's typically loaded with more slop than food. Write down how you feel now, when you are hopeful, and what you hope to accomplish. When it gets hard, which it will, go back to how you felt when you started and don't let yourself down.

Keep it simple, eat "real" food, move, and remember, Rome wasn't built in a day!

When it first came out. The first time I didn't really change my -- fast foods are primarily what I have for 2 meals/day habit, and had no ill effect, 'though it was kinda cool that whenever I pooped, there was orange fat floating on the top of the toilet water, LOL

I took a while off, and then started taking it again -- this time cooking at home/lower fat, and I got really gassy and kept staining my undies with fat farts :(

It only works if you follow the freaking directions. People who poop themselves aren't following the directions. A coworker used it and lost her first 50 pounds. You can't eat more than 17 grams of fat per meal. Anything higher than that will cause anal leaking and nasty accidents. so no, you can't take it and still go eat McDonalds unless you plan carefully (no condiments on anything, no fries, etc)

I have other friends who took it and had success because they followed directions.

The idea is to eat low fat and you'll get no side effects. So if you eat 4% fat in your meal, 1% of the fat won't be digested. The problems start when people eat bacon and eggs and high fat stuff. It becomes 40% fat consumed with 10% fat not digested. That 10% fat is going to come out by natural means......
If you follow it and eat low fat, I'd say is it worth it. They have shown is studies that if used correcty for a year you can lose 2KG extra. Not much in a year considering the cost. Best just to diet slowly with a long term plan.

My friend used the stronger version, xenical, prescribed by her doctor. The only time she had an, um, leakage issue was when her dad had made dinner and used lots of oil and she didn't realise.

I think if you stick to low fat foods and exercise lots they will work, but then if you do that without the tablets you will lose weight too! I think they just work as an incentive to eat healthily. Not pooing yourself is definitely preferable to eating a slice of cheese

The two major problems I see with this stuff:

    1) Anything that causes uncontrollable, oily anal leakage just doesn't sound like a good idea. Losing weight does not have to mean being incontinent and wearing diapers.

    2) It doesn't teach you anything about healthy eating. Dietary fat does not make you fat - excess calorie intake makes you fat. Your body needs a certain amount of fat in the diet. Teaching you to have an irrational fear of fat does absolutely nothing toward guiding you toward a healthy diet once you stop taking it.
