When did people start to notice loss?

Good Morning all from Upstate NY!
I just wondered . . . how many pounds did you have to loose before you started to get comments/compliments from people at work, friends or family??
I am down 6 pounds so far, but don't think I look much different yet. I am guessing at some point, my face/cheeks will start to look thinner, and that might bring on come comments.
It's always so affirming when people start to notice!!

It is a touchy subject. People may notice well before they will say anything because weight loss/gain is not something we often talk about.
I know for me, when I lost about 20 lbs, people began to comment.0 -
It was about 20 lbs that people began to say anything.0

It depends on how overweight you started off, how you carry your weight, etc. I lost 30 pounds total and no one mentioned anything until I got to the 10-15 pound loss range. Then coworkers who knew nothing of my intent to lose weight started commenting.0
-
I second that people not saying doesn't mean they haven't noticed. I don't like to mention people's weight because you could unintentionally make someone feel like crap when you meant to compliment them.
Also, if you see people often it's hard to notice because its gradual.0 -
look at my difference topic. i lost 300 grams, not even a freaking kilo but there is a difference to be seen,
i guess it just depends, also because there is water weight, mucle weight etc.... i dont trust the scale as i trust before-progress pics.0 -

This. I lost 60 and only some people noticed (most didn't). At 70lbs down, those same people who didn't notice 60lbs gone all of a sudden were concerned that I was sick because I had lost "so much so fast.". As for me, well, I still don't notice it-but that's a whole different topic.0 -
I started at 252 and quite a few people started to notice after about 16lb0

About 2 weeks into the 30 Day Shred people started commenting. My father-in-law insisted that I must've lost about 7 kg (I hadn't lost any weight). No one knew I was doing it. I'm about 6 weeks into modifying my diet and exercising regularly and a lot of people have commented (even people who see me every day). The scale still hasn't budged (but my tape measure is my best friend).0

I've lost 58 lbs and very few people have commented. I started at 241 and am currently 183.0

Experts say weight loss is noticeable when you lose 10% of your weight,0
-
Wow! that is great! How could they NOT notice??? That is a significant loss! Congratulations!0
-
A stone...then when the two stone was gone, they really started to comment...now the last stone just needs to shift...0
-
my initial weight loss, it was about 15lbs before you could see a change, but now my face has thinned a great deal on only 10lbs0
-
I got to about 30lbs when people I hadn't told started saying something. Around 40 is when everyone noticed. It depends on how much you have to lose of course.0
-
I find people see it before I even do. I have had a lot of people make comments to me about loosing soo much weight even though it might have only been 10 pounds. I think it is all about where you carry it vs how much you lose.0

Not sure, lol... I see a big difference. And thank you!0 -
Most people didn't realize it until one, I posted a pic on Facebook (i now do it for every 5lbs and can't tell ya how many people comment now) or two, walking into places after not being in them for almost a year and watching the heads turn.
Most people don't say anything because they don't want to seem like they are being insulting (yes I have had people tell me that).
Also amazing job on the weight loss amysue!!!!!!!!!!0 -
The 10% mark is correct as the bigger you are the more weight you will need to loose before it's really noticable. I can also say personally that roughly 10% weight loss is also the point where people started to notice I'd lost some pounds.0

When did YOU start to notice!?0

Experts say weight loss is noticeable when you lose 10% of your weight,
I think "experts" may not be 100% correct on this. When I lost 10%, my mother asked if I was pregnant. I was at 30% down before it was universally noticeable.0 -
I think I've decided close friends and husbands notice at 5% of your body weight, friends at 10%, and the world at 15%.0

When did YOU start to notice!?
Still waiting....down 5 sizes-you'd think I'd notice it, but I don't.0 -
When did YOU start to notice!?
I have lost 65+ pounds and I STILL dont see any difference when I look in the mirror ( talk about body dysmorphic syndrome) but I know I have no clothes to wear and had to go to Thrift Shop to buy jeans for work ( since Im losing pretty fast & regularly, no sense in spending a ot of $$ on clothes)
I got my FIRST compliment at work last week ( Im the only female in an office with 25 men... Im sure others have noticed but the fear of EEO complaints or the thought of hurting my feelings or such prevents them from saying anything...
I got MANY compliments at church yesterday... maybe because I had on 5" heels and a shorter dress than usual, I stuck out a lil more...
My husband noticed I need a new bathing suit when last week he saw me in one I had been wearing Summer 2012... My daughter noticed because she said I needed new pants and she'd take me out for a couple of pairs as my Xmas present ( I declined since I know Im still losing)
that said, I think walking upright with confidence will garner you more attention and/or compliments than not....0 -
Still waiting....down 5 sizes-you'd think I'd notice it, but I don't.
This. I still try to buy the bigger sizes; just a knee jerk reaction when shopping. I start to head to the chubby section and then stop myself realizing that I don't belong there anymore. I'm down 45 lbs (and 4 sizes) and still try to buy things in the bigger sizes, almost afraid of buying something too small, or convinced that they just won't fit me. I wish I could say it's self esteem, but I feel confident, I feel healthier and I feel sexier. However, my brain still looks for the XL in everything.0 -
When I hit right at the 100lb mark.....Lol.
My close friends who knew I was working on it noticed sooner.0 -

You can always trust you mum can't you haha0 -
Nearly two stone before anyone noticed, now I've lost (nearly) 5 stone and 5 sizes, I get people noticing changes every 9 or 10lbs which I find funny, considering it took over 28lbs before anyone noticed to begin with.
It's different for everyone, and some people don't like to comment for fear of being rude. The most important thing is that you notice the changes :flowerforyou:0 -
Wow! that is great! How could they NOT notice??? That is a significant loss! Congratulations!
Because most people (myself included) are incredibly bad at observing what is around them. I just asked a colleague if her hair was darker - she'd actually had it cut - doh! Still it looked nice, and at least I noticed that.0 -
I am down 24lbs and still don't hear much but then again unless you were in my close circle you didn't really see me with that extra 30lbs I gained in 9 months.
So if most people see me know, I guess I look like i always have. I think another 15lbs for me for everyone to notice.0
