  • I'm about to go on a 3 night bahamas cruise, and should be getting a Kindle Fire in the mail anyday... Any suggestions of a good book series to put on it for the trip?

Ummmm... why are you reading on a cruise in the first place? Shouldn't you be gettin your groove on? Dancing, drinking, etc.? Save the books for riding a train or a plain. Go work on your tan, and have fun meeting people you're never gonna see again. :)

Elder Races Series by Thea Harrison. The first is Dragon Lord. Paranormal romance. Compelling characters. Good plots. Fun reading.

If you've never read it, Clan of the Cave Bear (Earth's Children Series) by Jean Auel. Amazing read. The later books not as good.

thanks for the thread. I've been needing new titles to put on my Nook.

I love, Love Dragon Bound! (Elder Races by Thea Harrison) Sooooo good!

Maybe she wants to read by the pool? That's what I do on vacation. I have my drink next to me and a good book in front of me while working on my tan :glasses:

^That all sounds like a lot of work and effort.

I'd be by the pool, drunk, reading a book the entire time :)

    Depends on what you're into:

Vince Flynn series for those that enjoy the spy/action hero genre
Terry Goodkind if you're looking for preachy humanism theory(think Ayn Rand), the series is the Sword of Truth
The Iron Druid series 5 books so far, by Kevin Hearne for agnostics
John Conroe's Demon Accords series for Urban Fantasy, and his standalone novel, "Black Frost"
The Prey series by John Sandford is excellent as well as the Kidd novels, same author
Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch series for police procedurals

These are a few of my favorite things....:drinker:

    Confessions of a Shopaholic series.

The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency

Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials Trilogy

I have heard that the Hunger Games trilogy is great too, but haven't had a chance to pick it up yet.

A Song of Ice and Fire - 5 books out of 7 completed.

You may know it as "Game of Thrones" (book 1)

On my last cruise our favorite bartender suggested this. So far, I have heard to a of good stuff about it. It's on my list next. I did start watching the tv series - if it's half as good as the series I'll be happy (and I hear its better).

Right now I am re-reading then finishing the Dark Tower series by Stephen King - awesome.

I also read 50 Shades trilogy on my last cruise - not impressed.
The Hunger Games was ok. Really liked the first book, second less and not a fan of the last.

Pillars of the Earth is one of my favorite books. I know I read another in the series but don't really remember.
  • Outlander - Diana Gabaldon

The original (actually written by her) books by Virginia Andrews. Drama/family saga.
The Harry Hole books by Jo Nesbo. Norwegian crime thrillers.
