    city of lost souls or vampire academy, or the Trylle Trilogy all amazing well written books that u will love!!!

    Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum Series I started this series in the middle, then went back & read it from the start.

    James Patterson's Alex Cross Series I read these books while waiting for the next Stephanie Plum book to come out.

    Robert B. Parker's Jesse Stone Series I started this series last month & love it!!

    Finally, someone who knows a good author and good books. Janet Evanovich is fluff reading, very light, non mind consuming. Not greatly written. These are all mystery/thriller (to some extent) stories. Jesse Stone is so easy to read, fluff like Stephanie Plum. But Alex Cross is mind boggling.

    A Song of Ice and Fire - 5 books out of 7 completed.

    You may know it as "Game of Thrones" (book 1)

    On my last cruise our favorite bartender suggested this. So far, I have heard to a of good stuff about it. It's on my list next. I did start watching the tv series - if it's half as good as the series I'll be happy (and I hear its better).

    Right now I am re-reading then finishing the Dark Tower series by Stephen King - awesome.

    I also read 50 Shades trilogy on my last cruise - not impressed.
    The Hunger Games was ok. Really liked the first book, second less and not a fan of the last.

    Pillars of the Earth is one of my favorite books. I know I read another in the series but don't really remember.

    I recommend the Fire and Ice series as well. The first 3 are awesome. 4 and 5 meh. But still good. 6 and 7 are due out soon. They are very long, so it will keep you busy awhile.

    Janet Evanovich starts with One For The Money and there are about 15 or so after that. Funny, easy read...great for a cruise!!

    I'm currently book 2 of the Hunger Games. It's good. I'm having a slow time getting through because my little sister already told me everything that happens before I decided to read the books. But I want to know how and why, so I'm still reading.

    If you're on the religious side, The O'Malley's series is really good. It was a fairly fast read for me.

    Not a series book, but my all time favorite book is Dead Sleep by Greg Illes. Romance Mystery!

    I enjoyed the "GRAVE" series by Charlaine Harris (writer of the Sookie Stackhouse / True Blood Series) and that's four books long. I also enjoyed her Shakespeare Series. I wouldn't actually recommend the Stackhouse series because the last three books have been appalling and are ruining the series if you ask me.

    The Keep by Jennifer Egan

    Huckleberry Finn is one of my FAVORITE books. To Kill a Mockingbird.

    Um... yeah. That's what I got. The series above are far more "beach" read worthy. :)

    I'm about to go on a 3 night bahamas cruise, and should be getting a Kindle Fire in the mail anyday... Any suggestions of a good book series to put on it for the trip?

    Dresden Files - Jim Butcher (urban fantasy)
    Parasol Protectorate - Gail Carriger (steampunk)
    Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter or Merry Gentry, Faerie Princess - Laurell K Hamilton (urban fantasy and way fun fantasy material :))
    Merrily Watkins - Phil Rickman (mystery set in Wales)
    Pendergast novels - Douglas Preston/Lincoln Child (mystery)

    It is the series that Trueblood was based on (it is not the same story) - easy to read, reasonably short books - there are 12 of them, with number 13, the last one in the series, due out in May.

    This is what I was going to suggest as well. I LOVE these books. I like the show too, but think the books are definitely better.

    I'll second Dresden files, Anita Blake/Merry Gentry & Pendergrast novels & havent read the others (but looking them up now!)
    also Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson & also Alpha Omega series.

    I'd also strongly recommend the Dresden series by Jim Butcher. Excellent books. Lot of fun. Anyone who likes that series is someone I'm prepared to like just on principal. :)

    I'm on Book 5 as well. I love this series but it's heavy reading!

    The "Undead" series by Mary Janice Davidson - they are a lot like the Stephanie Plum books - either will keep you laughing and saying "how do they get themselves in these situations".

    Of course the 50 Shades books...
