Not a replacement, but I love hiding canned pumpkin in tomato based things (chili, spaghetti, etc.). You can't tell it's there, and extra nutrients.

I'll have to try that. Lately I've been adding chopped kale to spaghetti sauce, and while you can certainly tell it's there, no one seems to mind.

    My top 3 substitutions are:

Plain Greek yogurt for sour cream.

Parmesan cheese for butter on vegetables. OK, so you'll never mistake one for the other, but they pack a similar punch, flavor-wise.

Coconut or almond milk for regular milk.

I always sub out some of the white flour in a recipe for whole wheat or oat flour.

Applesauce to replace the fats in baking (especially yummy in muffins and pancakes).

Greek yogurt to replace sour cream in some dips etc.

    1. Non-fat Greek yogurt in place of heavy cream or sour cream in recipes.

I wouldn't even call this a substitution, because it is so yummy!

    1. Instead of single cream I use natural yogurt
    2. For baking I am using wholewheat flour instead of self baking
    3. I know its not substitute but I prefer full fat chocolate or any flavor yogurt than 0% or fat free one. I hate the taste.

Greek yogurt for nearly everything! Frozen is delicious..
Pumpkin in baked goods (same as applesauce)..or mixed in yogurt to add volume.
Peanut flour..taste of PB without the dense calories. I love it in yogurt, with a banana or in a protein shake.

While I try to stick to whole foods, some guilty foods I'm caught having are Arctic Zero low calorie 'ice cream', shiritaki noodles and Braggs Amino soy sauce spray with no calories:wink:
