    Coca cola chicken is a popular students dish in China (mostly done with wings). Quite low in fat and very easy.


    Chicken thighs
    Small can of coke (regular, not diet)
    soy sauce
    garlic

    Brown some chicken thighs and throw in some chopped garlic. If you are using chicken with the skin removed you will need a little oil. Otherwise, just brown skin side down first in a dry pan to release some oil. Toss in the coke, and add enough water so that the chicken is submerged 2/3 of the way. Add a few good lashings of soy sauce. Boil with the lid off for 45 minutes until the chicken is cooked and the sauce is reduced and caramelizes, turning halfway. If you use breasts instead of thighs, cooking time will be shorter.

    i love chinese, but prefer to make some kinda homemade concoction. Sometimes its storebought sauces or sun-bird mixes. but always tons of veggies and i only buy small single serve rices

    I have a good and healthy sweet and sour chicken recipe
    1lb boneless skinless chicken cut into chunks
    1tsp oil
    1med onion
    2sliced carrots ( I add more)
    1medium green pepper cut into small chunks
    1/2tsp garlic powder ( I use fresh)
    2 - 8 oz cans of pineapple chunks in juice untrained
    1/4 c white vinegar
    3tbsp brown sugar, 3tbsp catsup, 3tbsp soy sauce , 1tbsp corn starch, 1tsp ginger
    Brown chicken in oil, add onions and garlic. Cook a few minutes add carrots and green pepper. Combine remaining ingredients stir into skillet. Simmer until thick.

    My family loves this.you can serve it over rice. Enjoy!

    Everything but the stir fries will need frying or pastry to wrap. Stick to the wok as well as it reduces need for fat to fry off veggies.

  • If you've made stir 'fry' beef or chicken (use non-stick for minimal or no oil) and have leftovers, make a roll the next day with a wholemeal wrap. For my leftover beef fried rice, I added fresh ingredients like:
    - baby spinach,
    - cherry tomatoes,
    - sliced mushrooms,
    - light shredded cheese (don't u dare add feta!), and
    - a drizzle of light sauce.
    - Carrots and capcisum were already in the leftover beef dish.

    If you don't add the rice, it's about 400 cal per wrap.
