Motivating swaying a little yesterday and this morning. Also alcohol is the nemesis of dieting! But apart from that I'm ok :)

Nope. Not struggling at all. I realized that for me, at least, when I start struggling, I've been too restrictive with myself. I've changed the way I approach this - not as a diet, but as a paradigm shift in my relationship to food. It's working, so I plan to just keep going. :-)
  • I've been good and not touched alcohol since NYE........yet!!! I did foray into non-alcoholic wine at the weekend. I would not recommend it :/

I'm struggling. But with SAD and the weather we've been having, I know the reason. I'm just ready for spring and to be able to get outside and enjoy the sunshine!

I'm maintaining my weight, but not losing anymore, either!

I am struggling. Starting to get back into things my boys have wrestling 3 nights a week along with other things in our schedule making it hard for us to eat a balanced supper. And even more of an excuse for me not to work out at the end of the night :(

Oh I wholeheartedly agree. I look out of the window and it's snowing at present - what I would do for a bit of warmth and sun

Eh...I slipped yesterday. Started my workout DVD and wasn't feeling it. S I turned on Downton Abbey and marched in place, did push-ups, squats, plank, flutter kicks, while watching tv. Probably not he same burn, but only logged 10 minutes of it.

Today is a new day. Kickboxing tonight, and ill be there!

I have actually been motivated beyond belief. But having quit smoking, I have exchanged a bad habit with a good one, working out. And I have lost 3 pounds since doing this so that is enough motivation. Well, that and fitting back into a shirt that I haven't been able to wear in like 6 months because I ballooned out of it, but it now fits perfectly.

I actually got back in the swing of things one week from today and although it's only been a week, I think I'm doing pretty darn good! I'm staying focused on a goal, so that keeps me going!

Oh and btw, I still eat fast food sometimes. Got Chic Fil A's chicken tortilla soup last week and it was SO good...some cheat days are okay imo.
  • I have my odd moments of weakness, I just need to get used to it. Its a change for life not a quick fix so I expected a bit of a struggle to change my eating habbits.

if you're trying to lose weight by putting yourself on a restrictive diet, then you are likely setting yourself up for long term failure.

however, if you are learning about your BMR/TDEE and true daily calorie and macro needs, and then working to meet those goals while still having a moderate daily calorie deficit, you can lose weight eating whatever you want to eat (within reason).

if you have not been approaching the problem this way, then today is the day to learn how and today is the day to understand that losing weight and getting fit doesn't have to be a struggle at all.

  • Great to hear people's stories :) When trying to stick things like this you sometimes feel completely alone - especially when I still see all my friends going out, drinking copious amounts of alcohol and eating all the fast food they want!

Its good to know we're not alone!

From Christmas Eve I started on maintenance calories as I'd hit my goal weight, this ment quite a large increase in calories so for the first couple of weeks I registered a gain, which as I've been informed is only to be expected when you start re-introducing certain foods. However during this time my motivation slipped and I felt like I was close to giving up, but I kept going and as of this morning all the weight gained has gone and 1/2 lbs on top :)

'when going through hell keep going'
  • So far I'm like a yoyo weight gain/weight loss... struggling to stay on track with weightloss.... I suffer from SAD too..... the weather has a HUGE impact on me wanting to eat junk food and sleep instead of exercising and eating healthy. I stopped using MFP for 2 weeks, but today I decided to get back on track... I will be happy when the sunshine stays for a while..

I thought I was doing ok but haven't yet lost the Christmas excess - put on 4 still 2.5 to lose. BIt peeved about that as I had hoped to be moving on by now. Giving myself til Mid Feb to lose those 2.5 and another 7 so I'm just focussing on the light at the end of the tunnel - surely it's not a train!

If you're struggling, it's probably because you're trying to restrict yourself which usually doesn't end well.
