kje2011 I just tried your "apple pie" - delicious and so warming on a snowy day!

I added a little warmer and microwaved for about 3 mins, also added a touch of fat-free Greek yogurt.

    Fantastic, thanks!

A spoonful of manuka honey. Seems to stop cravings.

Mattesons mini fridge raiders (70 cals for a bag)

Aldi Harvest Morn apple and sultana bars (61 calories each).

    Clementines/tangerines/satsumas.

Tinned mushrooms, dry fried (about 20 calories for a whole tin). (Yes, fresh mushrooms are low calorie too, but I always want to cook them up with butter, whereas the texture of tinned mushrooms seem to go well with dry-frying).

Pickles of any sort. I have some at the moment from Aldi which consist of a variety of pickles on little skewers, for 6 calories per skewer.

    Sliced, cold meat

I like to take a hard boiled egg and take out the yoke and fill it with salsa. I also like string cheese and celery with almond butter. Oh and low fat Chocolate Milk.

    Roasted Chickpeas

Oven to 450. Toss chickpeas with a little olive oil and sea salt, garlic powder, seasoning of choice... Spread out on a baking sheet and bake for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown and dried out.

    Great crunch snack.
I'm going to try that one

    Celery sticks and skinny hommus
  • For salty: I like onions, so I'll quarter an onion and take the boat-shaped slices and put hummus in them. I also like hummus with cucumbers. Or mix up whipped cream cheese with capers and smoked salmon and put that spread inside the onion slice boats. It's basically lox and cream cheese without the bagels.

For sweet, a caramel rice cake with a laughing cow wedge of cheese spread over it (cream cheese works as well). And I'll second apple slices with PB2.
  • When I have a sweet tooth, a 90 calorie Fiber One bar is awesome to have or even just a bit of peanut butter or nutella does the trick. Sometimes even honey in my tea at night helps to curb my cravings. If I'm looking for something salty, then I go for a 100 calorie pack of something or baked tortilla chips with homemade salsa. I also love raw veggies and hummus.

1 Tablespoon of chocolate chips! 70 calories, and gets rid of my sugar craving!
  • Carrot sticks, spinach and water :P
  • Mostly echoing what others have said, but I love any kind of fruit when it's frozen, especially blueberries and cherries. Raw apples or a pinch of shredded coconut are also a favorite for when I'm craving sweet. If you can find frozen fruit bars/popsicles that don't have a ton of added sugar, they're also good.

For salty, Claussen's pickles are perfect, especially their mini dills. So crunchy! Also, a piece of rolled-up deli turkey, a wedge of laughing cow cheese, or a little bit of lox on wheat thins or cucumber slices.

I love munching on raw baby spinach throughout the day--practically NO calories and it helps me to digest my food better, I think. (I know--I'm weird, but I do like it).
