take a frozen hot dog, wrap it in paper towell, put on plate, get the towell wet and have a little extra water on plate, nuke it for 1 minute 45 seconds, then take half of an everything bagel, put the dog on it, little mustard.. bagel dog

    Interesting...wonder what the freezing does?

I used to do just ketchup, then graduated to a little chili now and then, or a little cheese on top. Now I put fresh-cut tomato chunks on top of Turkey dogs, or some BBQ sauce/Ketchup. I guess I'm simple. :)

    Baby steps...I like it!

I like to eat them with as many unhealthy toppings as I can. Fry them in some margarine then add some chilli, corn chips, Velveeta cheese, place that on a white bread coney island roll and voila... you got an entire days worth of calories in a single sitting. It's all about being efficient.

Back when I used to eat them, I prefer "Chicago style". If it couldn't be prepared that way, I would go with mustard and relish (never, ever use ketchup).

I don't really eat hot dogs often any more either. But when I do it is one of the three ways:

    1. Chicago style
    2. Mustard and grilled onions
    3. Coney Island (coney sauce, shredded cheese, diced onions and mustard)

Op asked how you like them prepared and where to get a good one. She didn't ask if you avoid them or for advice on avoiding them. If you don't like hotdogs or think they are the devil's food, don't post to this thread. Sheesh, self absorbed much?

    I"m a HE...and I agree...just a friendly thread. :)

    Apologies on the wrong pronoun.:blushing:

Tis ok...it's kinda hard to tell with my ears all floppin' around! :P

Once per year anything from Fab Hot Dogs or Garage Dogs. Both great places, just remember 4 hours on the bicycle to burn them off.

    4 hours? Yikes...
  • Chicago Style = Vienna all beef hot dog on a steamed poppy seed bun, mustard, chopped onion, green pickel relish called pickel lily (spelled phoenetically) tomato slices or small wedges, celery salt, a couple of jalepino peppers, and a kosher dill spear! Any corner ma & pop or Portillo's. Going to Chicago this weekend. It will be my only self indulgence.

It is illegal to put ketchup on a hot dog. Violator's will be persecuted and shot!

Haven't had one in a while but........a hot dog with chili and cheese on top! MMMM!!! I also used to cut a slit in them, put a piece of cheese in there, heat it up and put it on a piece of bread with butter. Haven't had that in years!!!!! I also like it with just ketchup and mustard

Oooh, my grandma us to put a slit in them when she fried them in the pan...I miss her hot dogs!

Chicago style. Skip the poppy seed bun, though, just makes a mess and gets stuck in my teeth.

    or

cold, right out of the package. I know, disgusting.

I'm lucky enough to live in DC so I can go to Ben's Chili Bowl, and have the most amazing chili cheese dog, with a bit of onions. The chili here in legendary! Anyone coming up to the area should stop by, you won't regret it.

Wrap the hot dog in a cheese slice, pat ground beef around that, wind a nice long piece of bacon around that and stick a toothpick in the ends to keep it there. Then grill it.

    We may have a winner!

    this made me go mmmm
