If I remember my Fitness & Wellness classes correctly, you should be drinking 1 oz for every 2 pounds you weigh. 140 lbs = 70oz of water/day.

I've been told by my trainer to drink a gallon a day. 64oz seems very little to me.

Um, 64 ounces is a gallon.

No, sorry, my bad. It's half a gallon. LOL

I keep a 16 oz bottle with me all the time...and refill it at least 3x day. I try to have a full bottle with each meal, at least one for every workout, and another 1-2 throughout the day. I average 72-80 ounces a day and don't feel bloaty at all, but it's typically all I drink. If I have a higher sodium day, I try to squeeze in an additional bottle. Some days are better than others. Like others have said...if your urine is pale yellow, you're getting enough - and I use that as an indicator of my hydration needs.

There's no need. If it's your thing then go for it. But it's not necessary.

It all depends on the person. If you are sweating and working out a lot you will need more. I don’t force myself to drink 64 oz I just drink when I am thirsty, but most days I feel like drinking at least that or more. Probably Because I work out on a daily basis and sweat more than my horse on a hot day trail riding! LOL so I need to replace what I am losing. So I would say if you feel like you are getting enough then you should be good!
