Exactly what is MFP good for??

I like to see the truth in front of me. I also like that my friends can see it. This keeps me accountable.
I've had some eye openers as to just how calorie dense some foods are and why I keep gaining when I let myself go into default mode.
It also helps me plan balanced meals, especially when I log my meals before eating - then I can play with the amounts. I count macros more than calories, but MFP quickly calculates for me the ratio of my macros within my calorie goal.
It also helps me see when I've eaten enough and is a visual help for me to realize how much amazingly good food I eat, so no, I don't need to feel at all deprived if I don't eat that dessert. In this way it helps me have a grateful attitude, which I think has been really important to my success.
Keeping a log is also helping me to understand how often I can eat desserts or other foods that would cause me problems if I ate them regularly.
Christmas is one reason I joined MFP. In the past I've become completely derailed in my eating during the holidays. MFP has helped me to set goals and stick to them while still enjoying the season.
It's also encouraging when my friends cheer me on and fun to see others have success.0
