I think my first 7" VINYL was "I think I Love You" by David Cassidy. For all of us vintage people, do you remember him from The Partridge Family??
  • Heck yes! and that ridiculous Puka shell necklace...

I'm not old enough to remember the glory days of vinyl since i'm only in my 20s, but my first 45 was Let's Get It On by Marvin Gaye, still have it but my first LP was I think the Blue Album from the Beatles.

    I'm 19. What's a record?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vinyl_record

or basically a 12" flat plastic circle with grooves in it that plays music. Usually black in color, but can also be pressed into other colors, even glow in the dark.

It's becoming very very hipster right now.
  • I remember listening to the Snow White soundtrack and "Disco Duck" as a kid, but "Let's Dance" was the first album I bought. Ricochet!

I remember. It was "I Hear a Symphony" by The Supremes. I played that thing to death and it started to skip so I had to put coins on the tone arm to stop it....and that messed up the sound eventually. I still have every record I ever bought.

Beach Boys - Pet Sounds… this was within the past 4 or 5 years. I bought a "suitcase" record player off of ebay just to play my Beach Boys record… I subsequently have bought, and have been gifted many more records since.

The first record given to me was a 45 of Elton John - Blue Eyes within my first week of life… my daddy bought it for me, because it was a popular song at that time, and I have blue eyes :)

I remember being a tiny little 4 or 5 year old and putting on a record where the girl would sing "my boy lollipop....you make my heart go giddyup, you are as sweet as candy, you are my sugar dandy, my heart told me so."

Then as I got older "santa" gave me duran duran, madonna, go go's and musical youth albums.

But during my first crush I personally went out and bought a single called "Gee Whiz" by bernadette peters of all people and played it to death sighing and daydreaming amd walking into walls and just generally making a teenage nuisance of myself around the house.

In 1981 when I was 8 years old, I bought 'Prince Charming' by Adam & The Ants.

I used to run around the house with a piece of white tape over my nose. But that's my problem, not yours.

    Aaaaaaaa-ha! airrrrrrr-ha!

I do not remember the name of the album but the group was Electric Light Orchestra ( it was a rock band for you young folks!) I guess that was a 13" album not a single.

Too darn many to remember which was first. I know my parents hated it when I joined the KISS Army. Or it could have been the Cheryl Tiggs poster? Can't remember exactly which. Just know that I had to keep my door closed at all times
  • I was about 7 or 8 years old, if I recall. It was Michael Jackson's Bad album. I got a record player for Christmas and used some of my gift cash to buy it. Still remember like it was yesterday!
