OK... Let's Just Talk About It....

I noticed a great activity not listed in the cardio area, and so I Googled to see if I could find the information... so now I'm putting it to you guys...

Sex. I've found anything from 100 calories burned to 300 (15 minutes is the time I've used... cause let's face it, I'm overweight and by the end of 15 minutes I feel like I've run a marathon).... On my tracker, I've just been guessing and putting "aerobics" and the time... but I'm curious... what's the concensus out there??

How many calories are burned with good enjoyable sex? (at least 15 minutes)

Sex is part of my daily activity level and that's already accounted for in MFP's calculations, so I wouldn't bother logging it. At my weight/fitness level, I'd probably burn about 15 calories having sex. I have to run a mile to burn 100 calories as it is, and that's a lot harder than sex. If you really want to know, get a heart rate monitor and wear it during the deed!

Well, exercise isn't really about shoveling food now, is it? This is more about exercise that's fun.

The point of adding exercise is to allow yourself to eat more food. Nothing else.

So if you're trying to add exercise calories from sex it's for eating more.

It's irrelevant and should be counted as part of your daily allowance.

Oh, I see. I always wondered why there were so many people gardening in January...There's a whole lotta raking goin' on.

I dont think that should be logged. If anything it should be part of your normal activity. Just like cleaning should not be logged. Just my 2 cents

And ya know, if I was getting it every day, then it would be a part of my normal schedule, but many don't actually get it that often.... and if I would count jogging around my neighborhood 2-3 times a week, then I don't see why I wouldn't wanna log sex... its extra exertion just like jogging or weight lifting or Zumba or anything else.
  • Simply not true. I exercise to improve my health. Not to earn food.

Some of these responses are cracking me up!!! As for the negative comments...some people do it more often than what would be considered daily allowance! Geez! Maybe her man can go longer than most of ours, and if you're doing the deed for hours, it definately should be logged!!!

Also, you don't even know if she eats back the calories burned off, so you shouldn't jump to conclusions. Even if she does...I highly doubt that MFP calculates sex into our daily calorie allowance, as some of us...well probably a lot of us, don't even get any!

If sex burned enough calories to log, I'd be Kenna Shell.

And here I was thinking exercise was about improving health, fitness and overall wellbeing!

Either way, I'm not getting any at the moment so I'd probably log it just to acknowledge it happened!

I would just wear a HRM the next time you're lucky enough to get lucky. Then you'll have a baseline for logging it in future. If others log dusting I don't see why you can't log getting it on :) All the best to ya.

I wouldn't log it and just consider it bonus calories :)

Did you JUST start having sex in the hope of getting in shape, or were you enjoying this activity before you started logging? If you had sex before MFP, don't bother logging it as exercise cause let's face it, unless you have a 125 lb woman on your shoulders while you're performing squats over a guy, sex shouldn't be counted as anything other than pleasure.
