Hmm. I'm not sure what the first full album was that I bought on vinyl. It might have been Pink Floyd's Dark Side of The Moon. I remember having 45s for a number of songs that I liked.0

I literally wore out "Forever Young" I would put it on repeat play and just let it go for hours.. My God, my poor parents.
yes, kids back in the good old days, you could wear out your records from playing them too much... didn't help that I had a dime taped to the top of my tone arm to keep it from skipping!0 -
Bought at the same time: Don Henley's Dirty Laundry for my brother, and John Cougar's Hurts So Good for me. We played them on the same little portable record player that we were still using for the books where we'd know it was time to turn the page when Tinkerbell rings her little bells. ^_^0

I actually collected every 45 that hit the billboard top 40 in the 1980s, and bought some others that didn't quite make it(mostly the new wave/uk bands that were big in the 80s). Embarrassingly thou, the first 45's I bought were:
The Wanderer - Donna Summer
I'm Coming Out - Diana Ross
Upside Down - Diana Ross
He's So Shy - Pointer Sisters.
My excuse is that it was a small record store in a small town and they didn't have much of a selection.
Of course, it beats a gift I received from volunteering with the local baseball team. They found out I liked music and bought me some 45s(which were some of the first), including:
He Stopped Loving Her Today - George Jones
Swinging - John Anderson
and 2 other country songs that I forget what they were
Needless to say, I was a little bit less than thrilled with this 'gift'.0
