Low calorie BACON!?!?!

Okay, I feel like I was the only one that did not know this...
The precooked bacon that you find in the stores are very low in calories!!! The Great Value brand runs 60 calories for 3 pieces. The pieces seemed a little short, so I went with the Farmland brand at 90 calories for 4 pieces.
So was anyone else in the dark about this marvelous discovery???
This got me geared up for a super delicious BLT...
270 calories for a very large BLT sandwich that has plenty of bacon for me and was more than enough for a dinner portion. I placed mine on my panini press set to max heat setting for a few seconds to get it slightly "toasted".
90 calories - Flat out flatbread (improved original)
90 calories - 4 slices bacon
20 cals - tomato
10 cals - lots of shredded lettuce
60 cals - 2 packets Hellman's Light Mayo
pepper to taste

Great Value is the worst bacon brand on the planet.
Go with Trader Joe's brand if you have it near you. Still cheap but GMO and hormone and antibiotic free.
Great Value is not a brand to even put in your cart.
If you don't have TJ's at least get nitrate free bacon.
Do some research on Great Value....horrible horrible farming practices.0 -
Oscar Meyers center cut bacon is 70 cal for 3 slices.0
-
I can see how the low cal bacon would be good as bits or on sandwiches, but I loved my thick cut with my eggs. 90 calories for two long, thick pieces isn't too bad.0

I like the oscar meyer center cut too, 3 slices 70 calories...works for me to fulfill my bacon craving0

hahahaha....apparently I was the only one that didn't know. I live in a small town. Our podunk grocery store has only a couple different kinds of bacon...none of which you may have ever heard of. I never get it because they are all aroung 50 calories per slice or more. To think...I thought all bacon was like that.
Ohhh I live in a sheltered world....0 -

This got me geared up for a super delicious BLT...
I have a new BLT trick as of today:
Use ripe avocado as a spread instead of mayo = very good.0 -
It's not that precooked bacon is lower in calories, it's that the nutritional information doesn't include the fat that has already run off from cooking. Assuming you're not consuming the bacon fat from the pan, the nutritional information will be similar for normal bacon.0
-
I second the natural nitrate free bacon, you want to fuel with real food not just empty calories0

I've done that before and it's so good!0 -
I used to get thin sliced turkey bacon (Everyday by Butterball)- believe its 10 cals a slice.0
-
Jennie-O turkey bacon is also pretty low-cal, although I prefer the real stuff.0
-
I buy chicken bacon, I know not technically bacon but I cant tell the difference in taste and low in calories.0

May you come back as a Great Value pig0 -
Has anyone actually gotten back on this? I know this is a really old post but I dont have a scale and would love to know what the results are0
-
I am doing the macro counting and I found out a completely devastating fact about bacon....the bacon people lie...you need to weigh your bacon cuz the serving of say..3 slices is often WAY MORE than the 16 grams allotted as a serving..i weight my bacon last week and dammit..I was only able to eat like 2 slices of bacon...that is cruel.0

bacon is not that high in calories- why are we looking for a low calorie option?0

Yes....we eat turkey bacon in our house. Even my 7 year old loves it!0 -
I get Butterball Turkey Bacon (salt reduced) It's 70 calories for 2 pieces. The pieces are about 2-3 times the size of a regular piece of bacon. They are very good!0

I'm assuming you're all from the USA/Canada? British back bacon is generally around 110 cals per rasher! Not sure about streaky though - too fatty for me.
However, I do go to one of our supermarkets to get their low calorie bacon - 37 cals per slice - so I have 3 in a sandwich!0 -

So you eat BLAT? Um....doesn't sound all that tasty.0 -
Slice anything thinly enough and it will have less calories !!0
