Hi guys I have just finished a discussion with a friend about weight loss. I explained MFP and how it all worked and to cut a long story short she was not impressed with how MFP recommends max weight loss to 0.5 - 2lb a week. Instead she is raving about this forever 9 clean detox and how she can lose up to 9lb in 5 days or something like that! I tried to explain that this site helps to get you to a better lifestyle etc and that her detox wasnt going to help her in the long run (prob lose water and not much fat). Anyway friendship is more important and each to their own. But she and I were curious as to if anyone on MFP has tried/ or heard about this detox and if it worked. She is now thinking it might be a great kick start. Well guys whats your opinion?

And most of her weight loss will be water, not fat. You need a 3,500 calorie deficit to lose 1 Lb of actual fat in one week. Just to put it into perspective...for me, that would mean I would have to net a negative 13,300 calories per week or negative 1,900 calories per day...and I'd probably be dead in about a week...probably less.0

I have actually used this detox and managed to lose 5 lbs in a week and have since kept it off. I am not a big girl so did not expect to lose too much but seeing my work colleague lose 9 lbs over a week (and is still losing weight with forever products) I had to give it a go myself.
All I'm saying is please do not knock something before you try it as everyone in my workplace was skeptical and thought it was a waste of money and the weight would be put back on, but they were proven wrong to the point were many have been inspired and are watching their diet and are even using the shakes for lunch). It has been over two months since I completed it and I am continuing to use Aloe Vera gel in the mornings and the Aminotein shake for lunch just because I think they are great products that make me feel cleansed and nourished. That coupled with this site and regular exercise is working wonders for me.
I only recommend this detox because I have actually used it and have seen real results, the same way I am now recommending my friends and colleagues to use this site. Its a shame many people are ready to dismiss something that could actually work for them before even trying.0 -

BPA is one that actually disrupts the bodies hormones. I guess I should have mentioned in my first comment, that just because your body eliminates something, that does not mean it did not do some damage while it was in your body. You are welcome to bring some proof of you unfounded, and unsupported claims. I would love to see some evidence that what I say is false.

I did the Master Cleanse for over two weeks, once upon a time, while running several miles per day.
Did I die? Nope.
Did the numbers fall on the scale? Yup
Did I look healthy and fit? Not even a little bit.
Do you want to look good, or do you just want the number on the scale to drop? Because those are not the same thing.0 -
In order to lose 9 pounds of non-water weight in 5 days, you would have to create a deficit of 31 500 calories. Not going to happen. She's fooling herself.0

I believe that our bodies 'automatically' process chemicals because of measurable and repeatable scientific proof which conclusively has proven that they do - Hg and Pb levels (for instance) fall over time. But I think maybe I misunderstood, and you're not saying that is false, but rather you're saying that eating a certain diet can potentially accelerate the body's processing of toxins. I haven't seen scientifically valid evidence to substantiate that yet; although I've seen lots of claims.0 -

I am sure it is confusing to one who is on the attack. I am not against critique of natural healing, I am against the mindset that all natural healing is bad, all man made meds are good. This is not a hard concept to grasp. I do not support the use of cleanses. How ever that does not mean I do not support natural remedies or healing, and that does not mean that I believe ALL natural healing works, or is safe. You see, I have a brain that I actually think with. I use it allllllll the time. I tend to look for the best way to take care of my body on all fronts, not just one. There is a good and bad side to everything. Modern medicine had it's good and bad along with anything else.
And sure, our bodies DO process chemicals, but that does not render those chemicals harmless. Your body might process a diet pill, and that diet pill may cause you a heart problem. Processing does not equal no ramifications of said chemical.0 -

I believe that our bodies 'automatically' process chemicals because of measurable and repeatable scientific proof which conclusively has proven that they do - Hg and Pb levels (for instance) fall over time. But I think maybe I misunderstood, and you're not saying that is false, but rather you're saying that eating a certain diet can potentially accelerate the body's processing of toxins. I haven't seen scientifically valid evidence to substantiate that yet; although I've seen lots of claims.
I am sure it is confusing to one who is on the attack. I am not against critique of natural healing, I am against the mindset that all natural healing is bad, all man made meds are good. This is not a hard concept to grasp. I do not support the use of cleanses. How ever that does not mean I do not support natural remedies or healing, and that does not mean that I believe ALL natural healing works, or is safe. You see, I have a brain that I actually think with. I use it allllllll the time. I tend to look for the best way to take care of my body on all fronts, not just one. There is a good and bad side to everything. Modern medicine had it's good and bad along with anything else.
This is getting nasty. From the outside, they were pointing out things you said that were actually contradictory.0
