30 day shred nerves.

I am going to be starting again in the next day or two. I tried it once a year or two ago and gave up after the first day. I wasn't as determined then as I am now though. If you want you can add me and we can encourage each other through it. I am very overweight as well so I know hoe nerve racking it can be to start a new exercise but dang it I want some good results like I have seen all these other people getting with it. So I determined to stick to it.0

If anything one of the best ones to start with is the 30DS!
I started with 30DS and it has completely changed my life now I am 5 months on from when I did it. It transformed my views on exercise and being fit, motivated me and was the first exercise DVD I had stuck out all the way to the end. Now, I work out 6 days a week, have lost 3 dress sizes, eat healthier and am so close to my goal I can smell it!
I didn't even have a goal with I started 30DS, so that's how far I have come because that was my first stepping stone.
Do it. Stick at it. You wont regret it!0 -
this thread made me get off my lazy butt and do it. I just completed day 1. I couldn't fully do the bicycle ab workout, but pretty much everything else. I do quite a few of the moves in my Pulse (like zumba) class, especially jumping jacks, squats, lunges, and punches. The ab stuff got me. Firstly because my floor is hard and I don't have a mat. I was pouring sweat after, but I feel good so far. I used cans of fruit for weights since I don't have any. I took pics before I started, and plan on trying to measure later today.0

 I didn't notice that you were the OP, just kinda skimmed through the thread!! You got this, Ashley!0

Honey, the first EVER time I tried to exercise wasn't 30 DS, it was 10 repetitions of this: hands up in the air, bend over forward to touch toes, 10 repetition of easiest ab exercises in the world and 10 repetitions of leg exercises on my mat (laying on my hip, lifting 1 leg in the air 10 times, then other leg).
I had muscle pain foe 3 DAYS! Couldn't move... but I repeated that and again and again..... them moved to something challenging... and got to 30 DS. I wanted to die the first time! And the next. and the next! I took 2 days break and continued. Things got easier and results were visible!
Just don't quit, ok? :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
p.s. I think her Body revolution is much easier, especially since you are overweight, but the exercises are like in 30 DS only modified. If it's hard for you to use weights, start without them. Simplify moves as much as you can. Then go with 1pound weights.
Don't jog, march in place. Don't worry if you can't even do a beginner pushup, neither could I and I wasn't overweight when I tried. Just try once, and next time try again.
Take breaks - 5-10 seconds as much as you need. No one expects you to be an athlete, you're not competing with anyone. You are just trying to do as best as you can.
She has a line she repeats (jillian) : Just give me EVERYTHING you've got. On some days you'll do better, on others not so much, but it's about you!!
Don't do it every day, have a rest day in between. You'll be fresh next time.
GOOD LUCK!0 -
Well, you'll never get in shape unless you do SOMETHING, right? Just do it. It's not long, and you can take breaks as you need them. Then do it again the next day. After a few days, you will start to realize that you need fewer and fewer breaks...0

Give it a try!
I'll be the first to admit when I first started it was horrible. I couldn't walk the next day because my body was in so much pain.. It really does get easier as you go on.
Sometimes if the movement is too tough or I find myself in too much pain I job in place instead.
Goodluck!0 -
I can do some of Shaun T's rockin body workouts. Those r fairly easy.0

Hi! I just started MFP this month and started 30 day about 10 days ago....I hurt tremendously after the first day but then...hey! after day 3...easy!!!!! (OK, maybe not easy but I could do it) Just do it as Nike says :-) Why wait???? I can already see a diference in how my clothes fit :-) Oh, and wear a supportive bra :-)0
-
I am going to start 40DS, was going to wait until 1st march too but may start tomorrow, sooner the better right? Heard a lot of good things about it...
Feel free to add me! Only just started working out again after having baby 15 weeks ago (there's only so long I can use this excuse for!!!) x0 -
Just start, waiting for March first is like all the people who say the diet starts monday, and then when they fall off the wagon by wednesday they wait for the next monday to start again. Unless you have a good reason to wait for march 1st (away at a conference for a few days, waiting on all clear after surgery) just get up and do it, by march 1st you might already have lost a few lbs and be feeling so much better about yourself.
For me the first few days are rough, everything hurts, stomach and the fronts of my legs in particular, but I like it too, that's my body changing and getting stronger. Personally I've never really lost any weight on it, but I don't have much to loose (only about another 10-15lbs, but already a UK8-10) so for me it's more about toning.0 -
I'm on day 18 and I've seen a great improvement. Stick with the beginner person if you feel the workouts are too extreme.0
-
Why wait, start today!
It's nothing to fear. Just a workout. Take it one move at a time and one day at a time. It's fun0 -
You know what 30DS gave me? CONFIDENCE!! I took it one day at a time, took that 5-10 second break when I needed it, and saw my progress as I got stronger, more flexible, and my endurance increased week by week. By the end of the 30 days, I was ready for more workouts, longer workouts, more challenges - and I stopped looking at things in the light of "I'll be able to do that someday, when I'm in better shape," - NO! I can tackle that NOW, and yeah, it will be hard, but I can do hard things! And I will do my best and I will be better each and every time!
Just keep doing your best, you will improve and progress - you can do it!0 -
The first time I did the 30DS I couldn't even do one push-up. You just do as much as you can, as well as you can! It only gets better!0

I start day 3 tomorrow of level 1. Gonna do each level for 10 days. I am super sore from day 1, but I still did it today and can't wait to do it tomorrow. You have gotten some great feedback. I would only add, make sure you have a good sports bra or double up. Do what you can and it will get easier each day.0

I just got the 30 Day Shred today and I'm going to try it tomorrow. I'm definitely feeling you on the nerves, especially since I've done Insanity before and couldn't get through it. Add me, we'll get through it together. Idk if I'm going to do it everyday, but l'm going to give it a go. Everyone's encouragement is great! Let's see what all the fuss is about.0

Wow, I am starting tomorrow. I was going to wait until March but figured what's the point in waiting. I would've started today but had too much to do. I am super nervous. Feel free to add me, I need some extra support. We can do this :bigsmile:0
-
As you can probably see yourself your definitely not alone in this lots of encouraging support on here .
Guess like a lot of other have said i'd say aswell, start tomorrow with it...why wait? I understand where you are coming from though, often towards the end of one month I will set a target for the next so starting on march 1 makes sense but often it is placing such emphasis on goals which makes them seem even scarier almost or intimidating I guess whereas if you jump into it tomorrow you're already there by march 1st!
See what suits you, many on here have said run on the spot or something instead of stopping altogether if a particular exercise gets too strenuous thats a good idea, personally I paused it and regained my breath and shook myself out for several seconds and then got back to it. Obviously for the incredible results many have shown on here it is best to do it within the 30 days and do the 20 mins or so in one go but at the beginning you need to allow your body time to adjust, I remember after doing my first one I came away thinking god how do they do it on this site and I still haven't worked myself up to the complete 30 days yet. What I've found helpful is i've started incorporating the 30 day shred into my exercise routine, for example for 3 days a week and i think that has helped me get to a place now where i'm thinking yea I could go for the 30!
As simple as it sounds positive thinking goes a long way here, any attempt at it is a push in the right direction, best of luck with it!0 -
Dont' be nervous! Do what you can, everything counts. Listen to your body and do your best and you will reap the benefits. I am starting 30 Day Shred March 1st too0
-
Just finished day 3 (but round 4 since I was crazy and did it twice sunday). My body is so sore. Especially my butt and thighs. Which is good since those are my main trouble zones.0
-
Ahh it's almost time to start. I'm still nervous lol but soo excited.0
