  • Hello! I have Crohns Disease and my Internist has suggested that I try the Paleo diet to calm my intestinal tract. Grains, and more importantly gluten are extremely hard on our digestive system, and being the "daring" type that I am, decided to give it a go. I have been following this diet for two weeks now, and cannot believe the difference it has made in such a short length of time. All the bloat has gone from my abdomen, and my energy levels have tripled. And from the research I've done, the weight drops off! I thought it would be extremely hard to give up all those foods we have eaten all our lives....bread, pasta, rice, cereal, oatmeal, etc. but it really isnt. You learn to adapt. Please do some research on this amazing way of eating and you'll be very suprised at the health benefits. I felt that the one thing I would miss the most, would be pasta....so I made this recipe, and Voila! I call it the

    "No Pasta_Pasta"

1.5 lbs lean ground beef or sliced steak, chicken, any meat of your choice
    1 small onion (diced)
    2 cloves garlic (minced)
    2 stalks celery (chopped)
1 small red & green pepper (diced)
1 can plum tomatoes (drained and chopped)
    1/3 cup parmesan cheese
2 T extra virgin coconut oil
    1 tsp oregano & basil
2 spaghetti squash cooked & shredded.
In a large pan, melt oil, and cook all veggies til softened, add meat & stir til cooked.add tomatoes and cook on low til liquid is mostly reduced, then add parmesan & spices. Serve over spaghetti squash & enjoy. I like to let the sauce sit overnight in the fridge so the flavors can blend. This makes 4 servings. Each one has CAL: 389 CARBS: 32 FAT: 13 PROTEIN: 28 SOD: 446 FIBER: 5

As part of my new year's resolution, I am trying to go paleo (and of course lose weight). Rather than use butter when I fry eggs, I use coconut oil and love it. I jump started my new paleo eating with a helpful beginner's guide (gives a workout guide too): http://www.thepaleopath.com/ -- it has been great! But i love the ideas being shared on this forum too!

I often make wraps with Nori (seaweed) sheets. You can get really creative with fillings.

    Edit for spelling mistakes :)

one avocado + two eggs (blended together) + three strips of bacon, crumbled + one jalepino, finely chopped (both stirred into mixture, then poured into a small oven-safe dish) + one tbsp pamasian cheese, grated (sprinkled on top to coat, all cooked at 425 degrees f for fifteen minutes) = OMG YUM spicey avocado souffle. I highly suggest you to try it. :D

I subbed Turkey Pastrami for the ham I usually use in my veggie scramble, and I must say, it was amazing!

In a skillet with a little hot water I put minced onion, minced garlic, and some garlic/pepper seasoning.
    Add in
2 1/2 ounces of Castlewood Turkey Pastrami
    2 cups chopped fresh spinach
    1 cup sliced Portabella Mushrooms

Simmer on medium til spinach is wilted, veggies are softened, and water is cooked out

Add in 3/4 cup of Egg Beaters and scramble. When almost done, add
1/4 cup shredded Fat Free Cheddar Cheese

Huge plate of food that tastes amazing

    Cals- 230
    Net Carbs- 5g
    Fat- 3g
    Protein- 39g
    Sugar -1g (mushrooms)
    Fiber- 3g

I normally add 2 TBSP of Salsa and 1/2 pkg of Wholly Guacomole (50cals) to my eggs, but with the Pastrami in them, they were quite tasty even without the salsa and guac.

This is a lot of food, and a lot of protein for only 230 calories!

Need it to go? Stick it in a Mission Carb Balance flour tortilla for an additional 120 calories and 6 net carbs.
