    I have always kept it to 20, I do a 5 minute warm up and a 5 minute cool down for a total of 30 minutes. If you are doing it right it is pretty hard to do it for longer.

    Recently came across this article (it's long but worth the read) and there are plenty of links to research studies as well as a nice little summary of those studies. If you've read anything about tabata intervals, you can get the benefits in 4 or 5 minutes, so it seems like if you wanted to shorten your workouts to 10 minutes, that could work if you are pushing it hard enough.
