I'm late to this as I've only just discovered it. We've signed up for a 50 mile charity ride in September and I'm fairly new to cycling. This is just road riding. I'll normally add in my stationery bike work but I haven't got it logged on my ride activity as I didn't know about this thread. The rides have odd names as they're guided ones lol. I'm aiming for 75 miles this month but will start ramping up for next month after the clocks go forward and we have lighter nights.

Took a longer very off road route yesterday lunchtime. Ankle deep mud. Had to dip the bike in the river to get the mud off so I could spin the wheels again.
Just got back to work in time.
Im under by 13 miles now. But im astonished how much quicker Im riding (when not stuck in mud). My HRM is now logging over 600 cals on lunchtime rides when before I barely got to 400.0 -

Great thread, really good to find it. I upped my mileage on the bike last summer as a way to help me loose weight (I lost the 50 lbs I needed to and am now trying to maintain that weight) so it'll be really good to be able to post here. Mostly I'm commuting on the road but I ride mountain bikes most weekends for fun. When I first got back on a bike seven years ago I was about 280 lbs and a couch potato, I initially lost about 85 lbs and then took my eye off the ball and let my weight wander a bit, currently I'm down to 167 and training hard.
So far in March I've done
3rd Mar - 12 miles mountain biking
4th-10th - 117 miles (14 miles mountain biking)
11th - 17th - 78 miles (9 miles mountain biking in rotten weather)0 -

We got hit by a snow storm while out of town, so we lost a few days.
Took a very wet, cold, rainy bike ride today, but we wandered around battling the offensive rain so I don't know how many km. I like distance better, but I might just record how many hours spent since it is recorded for me with my bike subscription.

I hope everyone wants to do this next month too. Keeping track is showing me how much is plausible and how well I'm doing. Hopefully later I'll be able to keep better track of distance. I even thought of using a car GPS I have to track it.0 -

This cold snap is killing my mileage. I have only done one other spin class to get another 25 miles. I started doing more treadmill thinking I would get some 'real' riding in soon enough :-)

I don't think the car GPS would suit a bike hey tend to be quite power hungry, but I might be wrong depending upon the model. If you have an Android phone, or one of the alternative (very expensive) fashion bricks, you can download an app that will track your route, distance, time and much much more. I just chuck my phone in my bag or back pocket. A lot of people track their routes using Strava.0
