I have to agree with the Debbie-downers. If he's as hot as you say he is, like universally hot and not quirky hot or sexy/ugly, he would've made his move by now.

I hope I'm wrong though. Maybe he DOES think you're hot, but he's taken.

I wonder. I don't hit on girls at the gym because I'm married. But if a girl were to talk to me or ask me for something, I would go out of my way to be polite, but neutral, on everything. I wouldn't want to be thought a creep. After all, polite-but-neutral is what you want all the guys in the gym--except this one--to be. I don't have good advice on how to clue him in that you'd like to talk a bit more than just polite gym niceties. Maybe just keep saying hellos and thank yous more frequently and adding in a tiny bit more each time. It will warm up in due course.

I just wouldn't necessarily attribute his chill to a lack of interest. He might be very interested, but he might be trying to be respectful of your time at the gym.
