Today I ran 4 miles bright and early.
I am so thankful for this board today b/c:
1 My running partner did not go with me today.
2 The humidity was 93% and there was no wind.
3 With the heat index the temperature was 77 degrees.
If it weren't for you guys, I would have slept in today!
:flowerforyou: Thank you for your support

whoo hoo! 3 miles in 28 mins!!! I'm sort of astonished since I haven't ran in over a week and I have a terrible sore throat LMBO...I also walked for about another 10 mins at the end....had to come and brag...lol I'm so thankful for this thread!
hugs and great job kechie....if I'm being honest w/ that humidity I would have slept in LOL
your rock!!!
hugs!

Way to go Ali and Kechie!! I ran 4 miles this morning.at a nice easy pace. It is humid here also, but at least the temperature is decent in the morning. I hope the rest of you have great runs!0
-
I didn't run today, storm was still going when I woke up. It's incredibly windy today therefore I'm going to jump on the elliptical. They are calling for more thunderstorms tomorrow.
I feel so out of it when I'm not running. I'm very grumpy today and I hope to take out some aggression on the elliptical.
Have a great day all and congrats to those who already got out and to those who will!!

I finally hit the pavement early this morning -- 5 K first thing after I woke up (after some carrot/passionfruit juice that is). I like this 'running in the morning' thing. Thankfully there was a nice cool breeze to welcome me into the morning running world!
Good luck today running club friends!0 -

Nice! Way to go! Humidity is the worst. And I agree; I definately have MFP to thank for some running motivation. (Thanks MFP!!!)
all the best0 -
I had 8 miles today! It was great! NO WIND!!! That's a first in awhile. But, now it's already starting to pick up. Good thing I run early!0

Awesome job everyone!
I was only able to do 1.5 miles this morning on the tread (yelling at the pup, making sure the 2 y/o ate her breakfast, making sure the 7 y/o was getting ready for school)
Happy running everyone!

Great job morning runners! :drinker:
(Mireille - :flowerforyou: )
Wanted to get up early, but {snooze alarm...snooze alarm....snooze alarm....}:grumble: Will go after work tonight. :drinker:
Happy trails!0 -
Good Morning Friends!!
Kechie - thank you for starting todays post on such a bright, upbeat, positive note. I have to say it really changed my mood - turned my frown upside down!!
I ran with my new training group last night. We did 2.5 easy miles in the torrential, pouring rain! The coach said she is going to break me of my fair weather running affliction! anyway...good news is she elevated me to the next group, said that my weekly mileage, pace, experience qualified me for Running 301 (I am registered for Running 201). So that was a nice pat on the back!
Hope everyone has a great day today! :flowerforyou:

Nice! I'm impressed. I'm looking forward to the day when an 8 mi run is a typical morning. Congratssss0 -
OH! Wanted to mention, got new, better fitting knee braces (open patella) & they worked GREAT!! No knee pain at all after Sunday's run!! :drinker:
So for those of you with knee pain, I highly recommend them! :flowerforyou:0 -
Friends and fabulous runners I am sorry I have been so missing in action
allow me to clarify
My job ended (summer for teacher)
My family's house is under water so I headed north to help (Midwest rain is really hitting hard)
But I have still been running and I am still going to do the 1/2 I'm up to 7 miles.
I have a week before I start my summer job (teaching teachers to teach in Compton California) so I am going to try and run to and from the gym. Today will be the first attempt. Wish me luck!
p.s. this will increase my daily running by 4 miles a day! Feet don't fail me now!
p.p.s. I was training in Adidas bounce (kids) shoes. I just upgraded to Adidas supernovas for adults and already feel a world of difference. You know its time for new shoes when they start to give you blisters. Most people would have figured that one out, not me. I thought it was summer swelling. opps!
good runs and hugs for everyone0 -
Yay! My first runners club post!
So i ran on the treadmill for just over a half an hour in this pattern: Walk 3 min, run 1min (except at the end I ran 2 minutes for the fun of it). Got a little over a mile and a half.
I made sure I stretched really well an I iced last night so my shins don't feel too bad today. I mean, the pain is THERE, it's just not all that bad.
Running was pretty painful. I forgot to take ibuprofen before I went so it was my fault really. The relief of walking after running for a minute was great on my shins. I've got 3 more days of this pattern then I switch it up to 3 min walk, 2 min run. Then it's 2 min walk, 2 min run and so on.
It's really exciting. I've decided that Fridays and Saturdays are my "run outside" days. I'm avoiding doing it too much because I know pavement is more stress than the treadmill and I don't want to over-do it. But I also know it's more work to run outside than on a treadmill!
I'm so excited for my run tonight! I hope it's easier than last night cuz a couple of times I thought I might die...
Anyway, happy running all!0 -

Hey, welcome! :flowerforyou:
As we've preached on here before, make sure you get yourself fitted with a good pair of running shoes. Go to a store that specializes in running & have them watch your gait so they'll know how to fit you.
Also, check online for good shin splint exercises too. You'll get discouraged from running pretty quick if it leaves you in pain.0 -

Hi runners!
My husband and daughter and I decided to add a new goal to our running plan. We're still planning on running a half-marathon at the end of July, and another one sometime in September. But we just decided since we're already halfway there and the timing is right, we would try to train for the Portland Marathon on October 5th. We got a program to use that incorportates cross-training and running three days a week. It sounds perfect for what we want. So today we started the first running workout. It was five miles of interval/speed training. We ran a mile warm-up and a mile cooldown and also 6 intervals of 800 meters at faster than our normal pace with 90 seconds rest in between each. It was a hard, but great workout! It was also fun to do something different. Hopefully we can follow this schedule and be ready for the marathon in October.
Happy running everyone!0 -

Awesome!
Big group? Think you're gonna like it?
I don't think it is big - there are 6 or 7 in the 201 group and 11 in the 301 group. It was nice last night because no matter what your pace there was somebody to run/talk with. I ran with the coach because I am the big overacheiver you know!!
and yes, I think I am really going to like it. A real plan to follow so I don't hurt myself, guest speakers, free promo stuff!! and the experience of the staff on the local races. She was telling me all the inside scoop on the August race - I know that is going to help my confidence come race day!!0 -

Done and Done. Lol. I'm EXTREMELY prone to shin splints. I've been trying to run for months but everytime I try I end up injured. I finally got a great new pair of shoes from the specialty running store and I've got a program that I'm following to build up the strength in my legs. I pronate normally so I didn't need special shoes or anything, but I can still tell a huge difference. This time I'm working though the pain and trying not to over-do it. I figure that's all I can do. it's obviously a strength issue and I just need to make my body submit. So that's the plan!0 -
Started week 6 of Couch to 5K last night. Building up to 25 minutes straight at the end of the week. I'll keep ya updated!0
