    Log everything, every day.

If I'm not logging, I'm not losing.

 Sadly but I would say that Discipline and Self-control have contributed to my 50 lbs weight loss.
I agree with y'all that weighing your food keeps your food diary accurate. Exercise daily in aerobic zones.
Read food labels for Carbs, Fats, Sugars, and Salts....
Sleep - get at least 6 hours daily....
Do not consume back all the calories that you lose exercising as it only leaves you neutral.
I would even add to be realistic with your weight loss goal as the more you lose, the harder it is to lose the last 5-10 lbs.
Good luck and wish you strenght & discipline.

Move your butt and move it often.
  • Don't diet. Instead make a lifestyle change - it will help you feel empowered and more determined to reach your goal!

    Strength train! Lift heavy!
This has saved me from a 2 month plateau- I upped my BodyPump to 3x a week instead of 2x and it makes all the difference!
  • For me, it's water, water, water!! 6+ cups a day that has made such a difference!
  • Buy and use a food scale with everything. Track and record everything you put into your mouth. If you can invest in a HRM to help better track you heart rate and how effective your workout is and calories burned. Be patient.

Just because you have exercised and have 'earnt' extra calories for the day, it doesnt mean you have to use them!

Read books, internet, watch TV shows and learn that not all things will work for everyone.

Diet, eat to live and not live to eat.

    Drink tons of water.

Listen to your stomach, it will tell you when it's ready to eat and not your eyes.

Eat things that are good for you but not because it taste so good.

last one, you didn't gain your weight in a day or a week so don't expect to lose it all in a day or a week.

Don't make anything "off limits" because then you will want it a 1000 times more than you would otherwise, but log even if you fall off the wagon and have too much pizza. Just be HONEST with yourself about you goals. Don't let anyone else tell you what your version of healthy and sexy is supposed to be.

Also, the key bit for me? Expect some anxiety as you learn to find new habits. It feels pretty weird at first, not to have a sandwich when you are frustrated or need a break.

Set an ultimate weight lost goal but break it up into smaller mini goals with a general deadline that you want to reach it by ( ex. I want to lose 30 pounds total but want to lose 10 of those by the time opening weekend of baseball and as a reward I'll treat myself to see a game. I've lost 7 of the first 10 so far and still has a couple weeks to go!) Smaller goals set within your bigger goal seems more obtainable and feels like you are making faster progress.

I would say: Don't give up. Forgive yourself for slip ups and keep the goal in sight and just keep pushing towards it.

    It only takes a little...

    Eat a little less,
    Eat a little "healthier,"
    Move a little more.

Brush your teeth after your last evening meal to stop late night snacking.
  • Do not make any changes that you wouldn't be willing to continue for the rest of your life. That way you will find a way to eat that is sustainable and you will be able to maintain. I have learned this the hard way.
