Ladies: That time of the month, what do you do different?

Always very crampy and tired but mostly stick to the routine. I do crave salt though, chips!0

I listen to my body and on my really bad day, if my body needs rest, I sleep longer. I don't believe in working against your own body unless you have some sort of competition to be in. I know I will work out again when the cramps subside, so during the hardest bit I only do yoga or walk around for errands. I know I will continue to work out if I take a day off from strenuous workouts, so sometimes a day of extra sleep is better for me.
The other 5 days are usually fine and I exercise and eat as usual.
I don't weigh in because I am addicted to the scale and this is a good time not to weigh in. If I do, I see I've gained and I say screw it and binge. I think it would be better for me to weigh in once per month or not at all, actually.0 -
Honestly I must be super lucky because I never get water retention or cramps and the whole thing is over in 2 or 3 days max. I barely even notice it.
I am jealous lol0 -
I don't eat any more than I do any other time of the month. I will up my water intake to kind of off set any bloating. Other than that, things as normal. I might be a bit more cranky...but that's just the way it goes lol
Guess I never though about drinking more water to subside bloating, I'll have to try harder to drink more water. Cranky...yeah that hulk comes out.lol0 -
I go on a rampage destroying villages and eating all the peasants. It's a pretty decent workout.
You always crack me up. Peasants are tasty dipped in ranch.0 -
I feel like your first period is something you should probably discuss with your mother, rather than strangers on the internet. Good luck!0
-
I read that all the hormones make you able to workout more or harder (or something like that) so I enjoy challenging myself at the gym during this time. Exercise also basically eliminates my cramps...and allows me to indulge in cravings haha0

I prefer chipotle mayo0 -
I'll still WI but know that if it's not what I expect, that it's due to water retention from period and/or the extra food I've eaten. It usually drops a few lbs the following week. HOWEVER, if I feel expecially bloated, then I'll skip that WI for the week and look forward to the following week when bloat is gone and I'm down on the scale.0

That's my thing Im afraid to weigh myself and see an extra pound when I've been working my butt off! May just do it once then wait until after this week before trying again.0 -

Please don't take this personally, but reading this makes me want to punch someone.0 -
apprently i don't do much differently and forget to grab a pad or tampon on the way to the gym. Then....i complete my run feeling like i've wet my pants. oh...why? because I managed to leak all over myself. God i'm sexy.0

I don't bother weighing myself, it will only make me cry. I work out the same amount but def eat a lot worse. My body makes me! Last time I legit took a chocolate bar and dipped it right into the peanut butter jar. What? Don't you judge me... ;-)0

I karate chop b*tches in the throat.0

So I was wondering, when it is that time of the month what do you all do differently? Do you still weigh yourself, still workout at full speed, still eat the same?
Less focus on the swimming leg of my triathlon.I karate chop b*tches in the throat.
I pity the fool

Since this is your first time.
Have your Dad take you to the store for the girl products.
Everything will be fine champ.0 -
I eat what I want for the first day or two. I don't get outrageous with what I eat but I don't deny myself anything. A little salt, a little sugar, a little fat and I am happy. I still lose during that time too.0
-
Its hard for me to know for certain when my time of the month is as I am on Mirena but in the past month I still managed to loss 16 pds so its not effected so far! Still do the same thing everyday!!0
-
I make people hate me when I'm on my period. It's quite an accomplishment because I'm adorable.0

I have read and heard that your liver is the organ that helps metabolize the extra hormones in your body, so if you are eating healthier and being more active, you should notice you have less obnoxious symptoms! I notice that depending on how much I'm drinking and how much crappy food I'm eating. The hard part is your body fights back by making you crave takeout, chocolate and pink wine!0

Surely I can't be the ONLY female on MFP who doesn't have PMS/Cramps/water retention?0 -

I had a hella bad time of it in my teens and twenties and then as soon as I hit 30 it all stopped and has been a breeze since.0 -
Drink extra water is my number one theme, although I've been trying to do that more throughout the month as well. Otherwise it just depends on how bad my symptoms are. If they're not bothering me, I still exercise as usual. I usually don't weigh myself but if I do I don't let the number bother me, after all it's still lower than the number I started with.0
-
I get migraines and that means I take imitrex which turns me into a zombie sometimes so I get more sleep and take a lot more pills.0
-
I become an emotional wreck, so for the safety of everyone I confine myself to my flat with a hot water bottle and ibuprofen. I do some pilates and on less painful days I do workout dvd's (turbofire/30ds). I try and eat my best... sometimes it works... sometimes not...0
-
I weigh daily and still do during that time. I don't let the higher numbers bother me. I still eat within my calorie goal and exercise the same. TMI, but mine's been 2 weeks long since stopping HBC so I'd lose half the month if I didn't do the same thing.0
