Thank you OP for posting this!! I looked at my "zero calorie" cooking spray and lo and behold it has 9 calories per 1/4 second spray...
I used that *kitten* all the time when I cooked, like a lot of it!
I'm definitely going to cut back, thank you again!
Did you see the lady that gained weight using like 1/2 a bottle of spray a day on her veggies and sued the company? 1/2 a bottle shoot lady why don't you just drink the stuff!! :laugh:0 -
Admittedly, I don't know this Dr. guy, but could the clue be in the name? I mean, am I the only one seeing the red sparkly shoes???0

If you like DR OZ if you dont..I thought it was interesting information. I understand you may have to have alot of it to matter. I was using it daily or a regular basis. The episode also mentions its not just the butter spray in question. Its all the "other butter" substitutes. They had "fillers etc." that are not really good for you. I didnt mean to start a debate or a DR OZ bash. I found it interesting enough to buy the Coconut Oil and Real Butter as I am trying to eat more REAL FOODS with Real ingredients, Organic etc. I find I feel better and am more satisfied with "real" vs. all the fake stuff. Yes you have to consider the calories vs 0 calorie stuff but to me...its worth it. Just thought I would share.
It's great that you have a preference for the real stuff as opposed to the other stuff, but please do it for your tastebuds, not for your health!
Dr Oz is incredibly inaccurate, and spreads misinformation like wildfire.
This whole "margarine is bad" thing is just as innacurate and outdated as the "aspartame is the worst thing ever" hoax.
Please, don't get your health information from Dr Oz! Get it from trusted health websites, doctors, etc.0 -
Really, what is the harm in eating REAL food? REAL butter to butter your toast or put on your corn on the cob, etc. REAL sugar to put in your coffee or tea! REAL milk to drink during the day! REAL cheese! I could go on and on, but you get the picture!
On the inverse, what is the harm in eating FAKE butter to butter your toast or put on your corn on the cob, etc. FAKE sugar to put in your coffee or tea! FAKE milk to drink during the day (well, that actually is wrong!)! FAKE cheese (even wronger!)?
Don't get me wrong - actual butter and actual sugar tastes much better imo - but for people on a calorie restriction, zero calorie stuff is a good alternative.
FTW
It's also worth noting that obesity is a factor in the development of dementia for some people so getting your weight down could help prevent it. I'm pretty certain the risk from being obese is higher than the risk from the additive.
Having said that I do love butter and coconut oil (love it in coffee and stir fries - too coconutty for me to use elsewhere) but the trick is to just count it and include it in your calories for the day. Simple! Nothing better than a big bowl of veg smothered in lovely salty butter!0 -
EVERYTHING is bad for you
seriously.
Maybe if I snorted PAM I would be worried...0 -
To be honest, if you think the reason you can't lose weight is because you cook with real butter and oil, you're seriously misguided... I mean damn, how much of the stuff do you use? I use real fats because they taste amazing, and have a Diet Coke while I'm at it..0
