Where have all the runners gone....

I'm a runner (well of sorts)! I try to run twice a week and at the moment am running a 12 min mile. I've been running on and off for around 1yr. I have just recently found a running buddy so finding it so much easier to go running. I always find when I run by myself I have lots of self doubts but when running with someone, I can run over a mile and not even notice!
Would quite like some running friends I can call on for advice!0 -
I run, and I love it, but I think I'm in the minority here because I don't do races. For me, running is my meditation and time to relax.
I did my first race purely as a target, something to keep the weight off. Harder to put something off when signed up and paid for than just saying to yourself 'nah don't feel like it today'. I didn't think I'd like the races but was nice and relaxed strangely.0 -
I am getting back in, signed up for 5K in June. Doing 30D shred now, will start Couch to 5K next week. I love running, it's like meditation to me but had to stop due to ankle (both) injuries.0

I run to stay fit and healthy, I guess I do enjoy to run. I may run a few races this year just to keep motivated.
My goal this year: To run at least 2 miles EVERY DAY THIS YEAR
Currently i'm on 88 consecutive days and am running 2.5 miles minimum each day. I've had some tough days, sinus infections and stomach virus but I just couldn't end the streak!0 -
Still here. I run almost daily and I'm working on a 10K for April and a half-marathon in October. Trying to increase my pace..currently averaging 10min miles on my long runs.0

I've been running for a little while now although it's not one of my strong points yet, I'm building up to it. My Dad used to run marathons so he is my inspiration when it comes to this, I'm hoping to run a 5k this year.0

Just ran for a half hour morning and on Monday...again on Friday and this weekend likely, too!0

I started running (if that's what you call it :blushing: ) about a year ago. Why? Because I wanted to do the Disney Princess Half at Disney World (hey, whatever it takes to motivate you ) I completed it, but didn't like my pace. Had lots of issues during training due to knees, so now my goal is to complete it again next year, but with a much better time. I also think that my knees will feel better if I get a little bit of weight off (and get my eating habits and asthma under control!) I read somewhere that for every 5lbs of weight you lose, that's 40lbs of pressure off your knees. . . so even 10lbs might cure my ailments!!!)
So, it's basically an ENTIRE lifestyle change---I've put it off too long. I want to FEEL like a runner, not just someone that made it through the course :frown:
Any support is welcome (I do well with the Jillian Michaels/ Drill sargent approach!)
Training for the Princess Half 2014 as well!!! WOOT!
Technically right NOW I'm training for a 10K on June first, THEN I'm training for the Half, but it's all towards the same goal. Just ran 4 miles this morning and feel fantastic!
Any other runners/DISNEY Princesses, feel free to friend me!!0 -
Another plodder here - about 25 miles/week (give or take). Not setting any speed records but love every step.0

I'm a plodder aspiring to be a runner, have to overcome the asthma issue (not letting it hold me back, just have to learn to control it and I did find that when I was losing I had a much easier time with it), over the past year gained back over 20 lbs (the key is in the food, just have to find it, meeting with an RD today) and with the weight, it has triggered my problem with my flexor hallicus tendon and now, of course, I've discovered that my flexor hallicus has a friend, the tendon next to it is inflammed, they are both under the care of a doctor at the moment. So I'm slowed down, but I'm not done.
I needed a goal before I started having a bad problem with my ankle so I signed up for the Color Me Rad 5K in Tampa on May 25th, my goal is to jog at least part of it (if I do more I will be thrilled, but because of being sidelined with the ankle issue, I'm not going to set myself up for running the whole thing and being disappointed because I didn't since I know I will kick myself when I am down and that leads to giving up instead of looking at what I did do.) The long term plan: I do run the Color or Dye once they pick the date for my area and my trainer wants me to be on her team for Tough Mudder (not to sure about this one, may be another year before she can convince me....)0 -
I like running outside, but I hate running on the treadmill and I refuse to run in cold/rain/snow/ice... so my running is seasonal. I don't really like races though because it makes my anxiety flare up and interferes with my breathing. In the summer I usually do about 5-6 miles, 5xs/week. I have specific routes mapped out that I know and like, but now we're moving, so I'm going to have to make new ones this year!0

I was a runner until I decided to begin lifting. Now, summer is almost here, I am slowly back to running...but I am torn because lifting is a lot of fun!0

we're out running
I run 35-45 miles a week, am signed up for various 5K's, 10K's and 2 half marathons over the spring/summer/fall months. Goal is a 21 minute 5K, 45 minute 10K, 1:40 half0 -
I am a runner who is very much slacking these days. But as the weather improves I plan to pick back up. No races on the horizon, just a love of the trails.0

sprained ankle..still not at 100%. can't run my 10 in a couple of weeks . Hurt it during a mud run..sigh...0
-
...to the weight room! I ran up until the middle of December and decided that I don't like it enough to wear a million layers. So I moved m exercise to the weight room and haven't looked back. Although I am looking forward to picking it back up in a couple weeks as things warm up and true spring approaches!0

I am training for my first half in over 10 years in May..0

Didn’t you hear? If you run, your body will cannibalize itself and you will disappear into thin air. Maybe that’s where all the runners went.
Me, I’ve been busy running. In the last 6 weeks I’ve completed two trail 50km races and one road marathon. In less than two weeks I’ll be doing a 50 miler and trying to qualify for Western States.0 -
Slight runner here. I don't enjoy it, but I do like to take my dog out a couple times a week. I do it for him We are about a 12 minute mile. 2.5 miles in 30 minutes.

I moved to Tennessee in January and have had a hard time getting into a routine. I've already lost about 5 minutes off my 5k time (which wasn't good to begin with). I am signed up for Peachtree Road Race 10k in Atlanta on July 4th, so had to start running again.0
