I do smoothies every day for breakfast too. Right now it's:

    1 frozen banana
1/2 cup low fat plain greek yogurt
1/2 cup pineapple chunks in it's own juice'
    3 oz. green tea
    4-5 ice cubes
    1 tb ground flax seed
    1/4 cup oats
    2 drops coconut extract

    also try:

same as above but, skip the coconut extract, and pineapple
then use whatever fruit you like- I have done frozen blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, or mango-or a combo of them!

I use to drink protein powder, sometimes still do, but you get lots of protein from even 1/2c greek yogurt (12grams!) and that doesn't include any milk or soy you use!!! So I nixed the protein powder bc well, it ruins it haha

If you peel and freeze your bananas before using, they make smoothies so good! Same way with grapes!

I made one yesterday with the following:
1/2c plain nonfat greek yogurt (added a pkt of sweetener like splenda or stevia)
    1 frozen banana
    1 peeled naval orange
    1/2c frozen strawberries
    1/2c pomegranate juice

    YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM!!

1C OJ OR Naked Juice super green
    1/2 banana
1C frozen fruit - I like the mango, pineapple, strawberry blend
1/2C fresh blueberries if I have them

    Easy peasy & good!

I made smoothies all last summer. I used all kinds of fruit; watermelon, pineapple, cherries, blueberries, honeydew melon, strawberries, raspberries, etc. My favorite had cherries and honeydew melon in them. And I'd mix them with plain greek yogurt or honey greek yogurt. They are yummy, nutritious and filling. Bonus- my kids like them too.

I also use whey protein in my morning smoothie. Mine resembled yours almost a tee!! I am trying now to drink the protein powder with just water. I was getting too much sugar with the fruits according to my food diary. That is depressing, but I'm not giving up! So today I had my protein powder with water and then I ate a container of yogurt! Hoping it cuts back on my sugars. Who knew eating healthy would mean giving up my fruit :-)

I do 1 scoop protein powder. 1C frozen fruit 1C almond milk. Depending on protein powder and almond milk it is anywhere from 230-280 cals!

Oh, and it tastes like ice cream fills a 16oz glass, and keeps me full for hours. I eat it in replace of ice cream some nights!

Thanks for all the responses everyone. Great yummy recipes to try!!!

We drink a lot of smoothies in our household. I will either pull out the big Vitamix if doing smoothies for the whole family, but if doing one just for yourself, you can't beat the Magic Bullet. The added benefit is you just take your tumbler with you on the go.
If you only have a plain blender and want to take it to go, BALL and MASON jars will fit onto the threads of the blade in place of the large glass part of most standard blenders. Just a fun FYI. Put all of your ingredients in the jar, blend, take the blade off and you can drink it out of there! YUM! oh, and it is cheaper and you only dirty one thing rather than 2.

1 cup frozen pineapple, 1/4 cup frozen mango, 1 med banana, 1 med apple, 6 oz plain greek nonfat yogurt, 4 cups raw spinach, sprinkle of flaxseed and sprinkle of cinnamon. Filling and tasty...the fruit overtakes the spinach taste.

Today it was a Mango Delight Smoothie in my Vita Mixer
    1 Medium orange
    1/2 banana
    1/2 peeled mango
    1/2 apple
    1 cup of ice

Awesome!! I've learned from this post I should be adding protein so its more filling.

My favourite at the moment for when I want something different to protein powder.
Strawberry cheesecake smoothie (found the recipe on MFP)

    Cottage cheese
    Low fat milk
    Frozen strawberries
    Vanilla essence & Stevia

Sooo yummy. 180 - 200 cals for 18 - 20g of protein (depending on low fat or regular cottage cheese).

    Banana
    Milk
    Vanilla Protein Powder
    Honey.

Simple but delicious!! (and best with icecream, for a special treat).

Definitely add protein to your smoothie. It aids with muscle recovery after a work out. If you are using them as a meal replacement, it will definitely keep you feeling full longer as well. I drink at least one a day as I am trying to increase my protein intake to help build muscle. Here is what is in mine:

1 cup So Delicious unsweetened almond milk (has more protein than the other brands)
1 scoop Pure Protein Whey Protein - Vanilla Cream
    1 tbsp ground flaxseed

If I drink it after a long run, I add 1/2 banana

I use an immersion blender to mix it up and make it nice and frothy (and to chid myself into thinking I am having a milk shake!)

    Hope this helps!

    Avacado
    Chocolate almond milk
    Kale or spinach
    Crushed pineapple
    Cinnamon
    Vanilla
    Vanilla protein whey
    Crushed ice

    A cool healthy meal replacement.
  • My "go-to": Kale or spinach, cucumber, berries, banana or mango, and flax, chia or hemp seeds. And spirulina if I want to be extra healthy. :)

I'M OBSESSED WITH FAGE GREEK YOGURT SO I USE 1 CUP OF PLAIN ONE, 1/2 CUP OF FROZEN BLUEBERRIES, 1/2 CUP FROZEN BLACK CURRANTS, 1 SM/MED BANANA, FLAX SEEDS, JUST STARTED ADDING LITTLE BIT OF AVOCADO (THAT'S THE ONLY WAY I CAN HANDLE AVOCADO), AND FRESH GRATED GINGER.
    IT'S DELISH!

Today, I made a frappie "smoothie". 1 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, 3 ice cubes, and 2 tsp of instant coffee.

I also use nonfat yogurt (plain) with the almond milk and frozen fruit (with or without protein powder).

You can do so many different ones depending on what you have in your fridge or freezer, quick, easy, and delicious!

    My Smoothie is as follows:

    Ice;
    Triple sec;
    Tiquilla;
    Margaritta mix

Blend until smooth. I enjoy it in the late afternoon, but it makes a good wake up smoothie as well

1 cup almond milk or skim milk
    1/3 cup of rolled oats
Strawberries, bananas, or blueberries, usually about a cup each
    1 tbsp of cinnamon
    1 tbsp of ground flax

Blend all together the night before you plan on drinking it, makes the smoothie nice and thick. Very filling! Usually about 300-400 cals.
