hey guys ...
i really need a new diet and workout program to stick on ... I got two months to lose 40 kilos ( 88 lbs) before my first day in college (second year) I SUFFERED THE FIRST YEAR WITH MY LOOKS AND LOST MY SELF-ESTEEM AND CONFIDENCE...
let me tell ya ... 220+ lbs at the age of 19 years old is not cool !!!
so here is what i'm planning to do ...
the DON'T NOT TOUCH PLEASE AND THANK YOU list:-
* chicken ( obsessed with it)
* rice ( really obsessed with it)
* sweets and fast food
WORK OUT :
30 minutes a day ....................................... first week
1 hour a day ................................................. second week
1 hour and a half a day .............................. third week
and so on ...

Oh you sound like you need a hug. You have started in the right direction. If you give yourself goals, and keep logging into this site you will find weight loss fun and easier than you think. People here are so encouraging and lovely.
Log your food and exercise, add friends on here, and keep motivated, you will be just fine ! - Oh and stay away from that chicken and rice :-) LOL

88lbs in two months is a very unrealistic goal and this may hinder your progress! Please lower your goal...2lb a week loss is the best and most healthiest way of losing and maintaining weight loss!

I like your motivation, but 88 pounds in 2 months is completely UNHEALTHY. Please please don't do this, even people who have surgery (gastric bipass) etc don't loose that much.2lbs a weeks is the most you are suppose to loose , but the more weight you have the easier it is to loose- I wouldn't push pass 3-4 in a week. It is so important to stay healthy, In two months, it could be possible to loose 20 pounds, and keep it up when you go back to school, you will see the change, feel the change and so will other people. The most important thing is your health. I urge you please, if you want to do this so intense please see your doctor.0

Please dont try and do 88lbs in 2 month its far to much to lose ,if you starve yourself to lose it ,it will go back on so easily when you strat to relax a bit ,plus you will probably be ill ,best way is to take it a normal pace :flowerforyou:0

88 is unrealistic, 30 over 2 monthsis attainable. You will gain self esteem with each lb you lose. Do it the healthy sustainable way. Good luck!0

It will make your life hell trying to stay away from food that you love when you are feeling sooo bad about your self already.
I would suggest that you learn new ways to cook the food you love..you might not lose the full goal in 2 mths, but you will lose a noticeable amount and by using this site and learning to REALLY love food and cooking for yourself your confidence should improve. Best of luck :flowerforyou:0 -
Sometimes the STRESS of wanting to lose weight will be the biggest roadbloack to preventing us from losing weight. Set your goal at 2 lb weight loss a week, concentrating on healthy calories, keeping active, and you'll be amazed how much better you will feel after the 88 lb, even if it takes you til the end of your school year. There are no quick fixes to health unfortunately. But you can do this slowly and with all of our support.0

Now I am no expert by any means but trying to lose 88lbs in just 2 months is crazy honestly losing weight that fast will just make you sick :frown: Set yourself a realistic goal one that is going to be possible that you will be able to manage even when you go back to college :flowerforyou:

I can empathize with you. All through school I was "the fat kid" and I hated it! I hated myself for it and like you tried to lose massive amounts of weight over the summer. It never worked. I wish I had the advice of people here when I was going through that.
I agree with everyone else. Your goals are really not realistic.
Why is chicken on your "do not touch" list? It's healthy, a good source of protein, breasts are low in cals and fat. I pretty much eat it daily and I've lost weight.0 -
There's no way you can lose that amount of weight healthily.Just no way. I've lost nearly 40lbs in 3 months and to do that, I've become vegan, reeduced my calorie intake and portion sizes, work out every day AND I'm breastfeeding!
This is a totally unrealistic goal that will lead to heartache when you are unable to achieve it. Sorry.0 -

Listen and re-read these posts if you must. You have set a goal that you will not reach. If you did, you would be too ill to go back to school.
Yes, you should lose weight. Yes, you can lose weight. This site will help you if you work the site. You must log every thing you eat. You must exercise 5 to 6 days a week. If you follow the guidelines set up for you here you will lose and will find a way to adopt a lifestyle that will keep it off. If you read people's bios on here one common thread runs through most of our and that is that we have histories of losing gaining losing gaining. But, if you go to the success stories, or just become friends with people on here you will also find people of all ages who are now losing and not gaining it back. That is where you want to be. You are sooo young, if you master this now, you will be giving yourself a wonderful gift==the gift of health.
Good luck, stick with this. Do not make it impossible for yourself. You will find all the acceptance and support you will ever need on here. Find friends, if you want add me.

88 pounds in 2 months in not a realistic goal...Thats 44 pounds in 1 month. I dont see you doing that a healthy way at all. You would pretty much have to cut starch out of your diet, to even lose close to that and the body needs starch, and you would have to basically starve yourself.
Any diet done in that fashion, is not good, and once you do lose the weight (which wont be in 2 months anyway), and you start eating, you will gain the weight back anyway
Just workout as you have been planning to do. Cut your calories, drink tons of water, eat lots of fruits and veggies. If possible try not to eat dinner past 7pm.
Chicken breast is good for you, no need to cut it out of your diet, just try and grill it, when you are eating it
Log all your calories honeslty, and stay at the calorie goal MFP recommended...If you go overboard with the diet, you may get frustrated and quit, so take it one day at a time
The slower the weight lost, the better it is for you, and more likely you will keep it off

think about it this way
2 lbs/week, there are about 23 weeks left in the year, so by the end of the year you could be 46 lbs lighter !
disclaimer: i very likely could have calculated the number of weeks wrong, but you get the idea0 -
Kiddo, try to think of it this way, if you lose 8 lbs a month, for a total of 16lbs in two months, that's 16lbs you no longer have to lose. You'll be that much further ahead at the end of 2 months, instead of gaining maybe another 10lbs over what you already weigh. An
It's a journey, a lifestyle change, and it will not be automatic. Put the correct habits into place, and you will see results, and you will start to feel better...and eventually, it will be less about weighing a certain amount and more about how great you feel and look. You'll love feeling healthy!
What happens to a lot of people is that they jump in with both feet and over exercise and get injured, under eat, and start to feel like crap, get discouraged, and give up. I think an hour of exercise, most days, is a good goal to set for yourself. Find something you like to do, whether it's walking, running, being on an elliptical, playing sports, riding a bike, and try to incorporate that movement into your daily life. Find classes to take, if you belong to a gym, where the class leader can help you with your form. As you go along, you can add more exercise to your workout if you want. You have to build up to great amounts of exercise in order to avoid injury.
If you start today, though, think how much further along you'll be when you head back to school, than you were when you started.0 -

Think of it this way...when people see you getting thinner during college while you are under stress from term papers, finals, etc. they will think WOW she is lookin' hotter and hotter all the time. And this is going to sound mean, but its not meant to hurt anyones feelings...half those people who will be looking at you losing weight while going to college could be gaining weight and wondering how in the he11 you are doing it!?!?!!
Take it slowly. Relish in the little changes that bring big results. Don't give up every time you flub a meal, get right back on the next meal. Don't feel bad if you do it either, we ALL do it every now and then. Because honestly attempting an extreme weight loss like that may bring big results in the beginning but the moment you can't work out as hard because you have that term paper to focus on for a few days it will all pack back on. Take it slow. Do it right for your body and your seld esteem.0 -

You're a grown woman. Nobody wrestles you down and stuffs hohos in your face. For you to eat that stuff, you have to pick it up and put it in your mouth - chew - swallow - etc.,,, So if you don't want to do it, don't do it.
2lbs a week is easy and doable. That's your 88 pounds in 44 weeks,,, which mean bikini next summer easy. You can do it. Just choose to do it, and do it. We're here to help.
((Don't write off the chicken - unless it's fried. Skinless chicken breast is one of the best things you can eat. Pan cook it in a little EVOO or Italian salad dressing)).0 -
I can relate being the big kid in school...but 88 lbs just not realistic. Thats a pretty big goal, and its just not possible. Losing weight is not a quick thing, and your goals are just unrealistic.
I understand the pressures of being in school cuz I'm headed toward my last semester in a about 6 weeks. I eat when I'm stress, and overwhelm, so i get it.
Since this goal is unrealistic.....maybe you can start yourself a path right now....that maybe you can continue when your back in school. Maybe walk to class....maybe go for a walk/run before class or after your last class of the day.....does your school have gym? My school offers discounts membership to students, idk if they do that at other universities. When I first started working out (before I gain alot of my weight back), I'd take my notes w/ me to the gym, I'd use it to cover the screen in on the treadmill, and I'd do reading on the bike. I got creative because I was serious about.

+1 to what everyone else has said. You are young, and if you start now you will reap benefits for a really long time. Take the advice from folks who have dieted all their lives--it is no fun. And the ONLY way you will possibly lose all of that weight in two months is to make yourself even more miserable. Plus, when you do get back to school, your body will be starved and stressed--which means you will most likely a) get sick, b) have no reserves for dealing with studying and classes, and c) be even more miserable.
As several people have pointed out, 16 lb is a very noticeable weight loss. You will look better, and you will feel better, if you focus on small changes that are sustainable long-term.
Think of it this way. Which would you rather have?
1. A thin body in 2 months that lasts maybe a month or two, being miserable and hungry and grouchy and stressed out the whole time, and then gaining all the weight back (plus more); or
2. A thinnER body in 2 months, your goal weight in 10 months--but feeling healthier, less stressed, and being able to maintain that weight for the REST OF YOUR LIFE?0 -
It appears you have a bit of support from all of us who want to lose the extra pounds for health, self-esteem, and even vanity reasons. The best advice I can provide you with is to find friends and/or family who are willing and committed to reaching REALISTIC goals as yourself. My fiance and I started going to the gym slowly and gradually picked up the pace (along with watching what we eat) to where we are losing 2-4 lbs/week, in a healthy manner. We are each-other's coaches and motivate one another because we want to live a long and health life together. If you find a relative or friend who has similar goals as you, be each-other's coaches.
I am currently in my 3rd year of a pharmacy program, and long days of studying make it difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle, especially with my voracious sweet tooth and love of fried foods, but once you make your health as much as a priority as your studies, it'll be much easier to reach for some fruit rather than a bag of chips. Much of your loss in weight occurs with small incremental changes in your diet...I wouldn't stop eating unhealthy food cold turkey, because you run the risk of finding yourself at the bottom of a tub of ice cream.
It also helps to consider your long term aspirations...I meet with countless of patients at my pharmacy who are on at least 5 medications for high blood pressure and/or high cholesterol for the rest of their lives because they lacked the ability and/or support to put their health at top priority. If you don't want to be one of those individuals, you have plenty of time to change your lifestyle around to better your future. And believe me, once the weight starts coming off, you will feel astronomically better about yourself. When I was a little older than you are now, I was a bit overweight, started going to the gym, and before I knew it (about 8 months), I had a body I only dreamed of and the confidence (borderline arrogance at times) to go along with it.
If you have the confidence to lose the weight, you will...weight loss is a change in lifestyle and is meant for those who have the endurance to keep it up...it's not a race or a sprint. Pace yourself wisely and set realistic goals and you'll be just fine! Good luck0 -
It could be possible if you choose to have all your meals placed directly into your stomach from a feeding tube inserted through your nose. But don't expect to have the energy to be able to do much else than lay around your house all day. Everyone else has told you what's realistic, so I won't dwell on that, but I will tell you, your weight will come off mostly this year and some next year and you will be happy with your progress. You didn't put on that weight in 2 months - it's more than likely taken 4-5 years at least to get where you are, you can be drop it in one-fifth of the time it took to put it on. You're still very young, so you're body is flexible, it's great as it'll make this easy for you to get fit, but you've got to be patient and recognize that whether it takes you 2 months or 8 months, it will come off anyways and I'm assuming you intend to be alive for at least another 50 years so when you take it into perspective, 6 more months to change your life and your future around is nothing. Relax, don't kill yourself, cut out the rice first, the chicken if it's breast is one of the best things for you, soda is useless, don't overburden yourself with deadlines, losing weight is easy, it just requires patience, and it requires you still wanting to lose weight over time.0

hey honey, don't let *planning* get in the way of *doing*. don't over-analyze it. just start. start with eating correct portion sizes and tracking your food and staying in your calorie range and going for a half an hour walk everyday. start there. don't make it so huge that you don't even start.
you can do this! you can be thin! you can be healthy! you can feel good about yourself at any weight!!! you can do this! hugs.

Honey I understand you are desperate, and sure am for 2lbs a week, in the beginning doing things the healthy weigh you will probably loose 20 maybe a little more than that in 2 months IF you do it in a healthy manner and IF you work out a reasonable amount of time 1-2 hours a day. you still have to have energy to go to school and study and live. don't lose faith, and as for "not being a house when you go back to school" its not a magic number you don't stop being a house majically at 88lbs it happens over the course, and you will be surprised at how many people give you good comments when you are loosing the first 20lbs, its very very noticeable in the begging.0

Oh hunny, it's gonna be okay. I have been in your shoes too. I was heavy going into college and get this- I got an eye infection 2 weeks before school started, it was all swollen and it kept tearing up. I looked like Quasimodo!!! But anyways, you'll feel so good just 10 lbs lighter. Clothes fit better, you look better and feel better. I know you don't want to go back so heavy, but don't kill yourself with unrealistic goals. Aim for something you can do. Your confidence will go up and that alone will make you feel better and that will make going back to school better. You can do it, just don't hurt yourself :-)0

I agree with sassy... I went back through my records, and I am considerably older than you are, so my metabolism is probably slower, which should be encouraging to you. In 6 weeks, I lost 18 lbs. I did it by doing lots of walking, and counting my calories on MFP and limiting fat and carbs, lots of fresh veggies, fruit, lean protein. I don't feel I worked at it THAT hard, so if you have more time to work out than I did, you might do even better with the time you have. During that time, I did have a couple of special occasion days where I went over my calories for the day, but many people do that once every month or so to keep their metabolism guessing.
The point I am making is, while there is no way you are going to lose 88 lbs. in two months, you could easily make a significant dent in your goal, and if you are doing strength/toning exercises along with the cardio that you need in order to have weight loss, your loss will look even better as you will be more toned than when you started.

You are young. If you do this the right way you could definately be in a bikini next summer. If you do it the unhealthy quick way you won't need to wear a bikini because all your loose skin will be covering up anything the bikini would anyway. :sick:
Extreme quick weight loss leads to loose skin you may not be able to get rid of without surgery. If you loose 2 lbs a week that should give your body time to allow your skin to shrink with you.0 -
I don't mean to be a jerk here but you need to take a realistic look at your goal. The truth if you look at it honestly is that you did not gain all that weight in two months, as such you can not reasonably expect to lose it in two months. The thing that would do to your overall health are insane.
1) Don't worry about the people in school and the opinions they may have about your weight. Anyone who makes that a priority in relating to you are most likely a moron. It's mind over matter (they don't matter so you don't mind)
2) You sound like a nice person who is just a little depressed by the way some others treat her. Find other people to hang out with, people with a good attitude, perhaps the ones who are in school to get an education and spend time with them.
3) Start on the program of 2 lbs a week and stick with it. Exercise to help you feel better ( I know how can working out make me feel better) but after the initial physical pain you will find your mental state to be better.
4) Keep coming here for support, the people here are amazing and really help you out.
Please don't go to the extreme you were thinking about, 88 lbs in two months would be the worst thing you could possibly do to yourself.0
