I have recently started a program to lift heavy. She recommends that I take a protein shake after. What do you recommend?

Agree. Protein and a source of simple carbs within 30-45 min of finishing your workout. Your body is 'primed' for nutrients. Protein to help build your muscle and carbs to replace muscle glycogen stores.

What types of protein powders would you recommend? How do you make it?

After my workout I eat a ton of egg whites and oats with protein powder in it

I like sun warrior chocolate flavor. It is rice based, so no gassy side effects. It is a little chalky, but tastes good! It is a great brand

Buy whey and definitely invest in a good-quality shaker like a SpiderBottle (around 12$) and a sfar as making it..pour a scoop into water and shake until mixed!

Different people have different tastes but my favorite is any flavor from Allmax IsoFlex with a carb..like a banana as an example

Dymatize and Optimum Nutrition are good and fairly inexpensive.
