Need advice to get rid of lower belly fat...

With cruntches, side bends, twists, etc I can feel it working the sides and upper abs, but how the heck do I get more attention to the lower. I am looking for multiple exercises to help in this area so that I can change it up and keep those abs confused. (Note: had a baby via c-section 4 months ago and the incision site is still a bit tender.)

Planks, Planks and more planks. You can try reverse crunches too.0

you can't exercise fat away. so stop with pointless ab exercises and don't listen to people who suggest ab exercises.
count calories, balance macros and do full body compound exercises. the fat will come off where genetics decides it to.0 -
Abs are made by proper diet in the kitchen. :P Thats my secret.0

Cardio, and running especially, is fantastic for getting rid of lower belly fat. It's how I got rid of mine . If you don't currently run C25K is a great place to start...0

This, and consider heavy lifting. My belly chub is still here, but been shrinking massively since I started heavy lifting

Just eat at a calorie deficit and lower your overall body fat. You can't spot reduce.0

I had 3 C-sections and after each one it was harder to build muscle in that area. If it is still tender start slow. Laying on your back with legs together lift your legs slowly up and down. This was my Dr.'s recommendation to start rebuilding muscle.0

I don't like sit ups, crunches or getting down on the floor, so I bought Zumba Core Fitness (for Wii) and along with my reduction in calories and eating better, I am seeing results.
Maybe it's just the reduced calories and not the Zumba dance exercises...but I like it anyway and wish you success with whatever you try )0 -

I had 3 c-sections myself and my doctor told me it would be really hard to get rid of the fat in this section and that's because of the scar tissue. He didn't say it would be impossible just harder.0 -

1st, stay within your calorie goals. Eat clean and lots of veggies. CARDIO!! Yes, planks and leg lifts will target the muscles down there, but they don't burn fat. You have to lose the fat in order to SEE the muscles underneath.
Also, your body burns fat proportionately. If we burned it in target zones only, we wouldn't look proportionate, so don't expect to lose your gut and not your boobs, butt, etc... It's all gonna come off together.0 -
As far as building lower belly muscle, prone jackknifes [jackknives?] (on a swiss ball) are great

That looks amazing!!! I do not have the arm strength to try it yet.....but I aspire to do this :noway:0 -
Core training focuses on the abs, back and sides that has worked for me , the section below my waist downwards has shrunk dramatically. doing planks, crunches, leg lifts, medicine ball workouts and lots of crosstrainer/ellyptcal
Note i have also lost fat in the midsection too tho it's not as noticeable.0 -
1. Brisk walking (not walking at a normal pace)
2. Jogging
3. Aerobic dancing
4. Mixed martial arts or kickboxing
5. Cycling
Try this simple exercise to loose excessive belly fat.0 -
Ah yes, the lower belly fat, I am on a mission to rid of it as well, alas it's with diet that the fat goes away. I have seen more results eating a better diet than I have with working out. Planks are my favorite thusfar as with jackknives, I believes it pulls everything in and strengthens your core very nicely.0

Or this option... You know for that "after workout muscle recovery snack"0 -
You can't spot reduce. Abs are made in the kitchen. Planks, etc are great for the core, but hey don't magically spot reduce fat from your belly.
Personally, I never used to do any direct ab work when I had a rockin' 6 pack...I was a sprinter and I lifted heavy, full body compound lifts...and I just had a very low BF%.0 -
Wow, im on the right track! I actually do all those except for the cycling. i am wanting to buy a spin bike but still saving up for it...1. Brisk walking (not walking at a normal pace)
2. Jogging
3. Aerobic dancing
4. Mixed martial arts or kickboxing
5. Cycling

Thanks for all the imput. I get that I cannot spot reduce and I worded that incorrectly. I just wanted to know the best exercise to do to help reduce along with cardio and healthy eating. If you don't strength train the areas along with cardio, you end up with weak abs and flappy skin, especially after having babies. This was my second c-section and because of some complications, I am somewhat limited. Again... thanks for all the comments and I will continue on my path back to healthy.0

You still can't do an exercise that gets rid of belly fat (specifically). You can do exercise to strengthen the underlying muscle, but the fat comes off by eating less calorie than your burn and your body decides where that fat gets used.0 -

OP is just asking about lower belly exercises vs side and upper.
Ab exercises aren't pointless and I'm pretty sure you CAN "exercise" fat away.0 -
Newbie here. . . What are "planks?" Thanx.
