Calories/Carbs/Fat...do you stay under all three?

I always seem to go over on my fat, but manage to stay within my calories/carbs (most days - if i prepare well that is). Just wondering how others do in staying under all three. Should I be concerned about my fat totals?

I've read you need fat to burn fat - but not so sure anymore if what I read is the truth or just someone's opinion.

I'm eating a much higher carb diet so I seem to be way under on sugar and carbs but over on fat and way over on protein. This being said, I have no trouble staying within calorie range however.

I think there are so many different schools of thought at work here. If it seems to work for you, I wouldn't worry about it, but if something doesn't seem to be working, that might be something to look at to make a possible change.

I try to give myself a +/- 5 gram difference between all three. I do go over on some days, but I try not to make it a habit. I usually go over in carbs and protein.

I use this same principle (+/- 5) for all three. As long as you make sure you're overall caloric number is close to 0 at the end of the day, consistently, you'll be fine.

If you're over on fat and ok on carbs then you're shortchanging yourself on protein (unless there's alcohol involved, which is a different calorie category). What are your macros set for and how far over do you go? Maybe you're actually doing ok and it's the goals that need changing.

Generally I focus on protein and calories. My normal habits keep the fat under control but I watch saturated fats for health reasons. In the end you can't focus on everything or you'll go nutty.

I suggest opening your diary if you need assistance with your plan.
