Am I the only one who hates it when people say Hon? Like "Nice job Hon", or whatever. It just seems like this really cheesy attempt to be flirty and drives me crazy.

I do not hate it, I kind of get a laugh out of it. However partly because my wife hates it. So when someone says it, makes me laugh.
  • I don't mind it. I do it. I like it. It's friendly, not flirtatious. I say it to women, not men.

yeah if a girl says it to me it doesn't annoy me, although it's not something I'd probably ever say

I am so guilty of doing this and don't realize i am. Once i didn't say it to a patient at work and they thought i was having a bad day

I don't think it's generally an attempt to be flirty. It's just how a lot of women talk, sweetie.

I hate it too. I dunno if it's because it feels condescending or if it's just how the word sounds but yes. It annoys.

It doesn't bother me, but I don't necessarily like it either. I usually get it from some of my older female friends on here, so I take it as a motherly thing.

I see nothing wrong with it. Better than being called something else...if you know what I mean.

I don't think it's usually flirty, I think people usually put it in to add a little extra personal touch to what they're saying.
I think it comes off as a little condescending though sometimes. Maybe because I call my son "hun/hon" and I call people I like "Darling" or something like that.

It depends on who's mouth it's coming out of. Some people can get away with it, and others I want to slap their mouth off their face when they say it. Y'know how it is!
  • sorry sweetie, I'll try not to do it to you.

My in-laws are all from Maryland/Pennsylvania, and they all say it all the time. It doesn't really bother me, though. I'm pretty sure I say it, too.
