I have a lot of fruit allergies, so my smoothies tend to be boring. I use the Body by Vi protein powder.
- Spinach,frozen blueberries, 1/2 banana, powder & unsweetened almond milk
- unsweetened almond milk + 1 tsp of flavored pudding0 -
I make the following smoothie each evening and refrigerate overnight in a 32-ounce Nalgene (which I then use to drink water throughout the day):
1 heaping scoop vanilla protein powder
4-6 strawberries
1-2 clementines or equivalent citrus
8 ounces organic soy milk
8 ounces water
As others have stated, depending on your preferences, eating habits throughout the rest of the day, and your nutritional needs, you can add flax seed, bananas, frozen berries, etc.
I'd welcome feedback about my recipe since it's still pretty high in carbs.
Limit to 1 fruit, or cut the amount of fruit to 1 cup
Replace soy milk with almond or coconut milk0 -

Mostly Spinach & Kale, Ginger root, slice of Lemon, a few grapes, 1-2 strawberries, 1/2 kiwi (or really any fruit I have to sweeten it a bit).0

It's a breakfast staple for me. Over time, I've moved away from yogurt, as cottage cheese produces a better result and is cheaper.
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1/4c full-fat cottage cheese
1 cup milk
1 1/3 cup defrosted frozen berries (strawberry, wild blueberry, raspberry, cherry, etc.)
1 handful baby spinach
some lime juice
a few ice cubes
I also don't like bananas, and they're too carby anyway.0 -

Got the idea right here... someone posted a "cheesecake batter" smoothie a while back... and while I never found the specific mix for it, the cottage cheese made a big improvement in the flavor.
And for the record, I *never* liked cottage cheese. Blended up, it's great.0 -
so, I have raw Kale. I can add it to my protein powder in my shake and that will be ok?

I have the same smoothie everyday for breakfast and never get tired of it!
- 1 banana
- 1 tbsp low fat peanut butter
- 1 scoop (+/- 35g) protein powder (vanilla or chocolate - both work great)
- 1/2 cup 1% milk
- a little ice
Comes out around 375-425 calories depending on the size of the banana and the protein powder used.0 -

well let me mention I tried mine with a tomato in it this morning...
I don' t like to eat tomatoes at all - but i still want to get the benefits they can give me...so i thought heck it's technically a fruit right? We got this 1/4 of a tomato left - so let's throw it in a smoothie with other fruit and see what happens.

I make smoothies everyday in my vitamix.
1 c unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 handful spinach
1 handful kale
1/2 banana
1/4 c frozen blueberries or berry blend
3T Hemp protein powder
1T Flaxseed
1/2T cinnamon

2 brazil nuts
1/4 cup of raw pumpkin seeds
1 teaspoon of flax seeds
1/4 cup of blueberries

I just started doing smoothies for breakfast about two weeks ago, and just started MFP earlier this week (so feel free to add me as a freind!). I really like having my smoothies in the morning because I have an hour commute and its a great grab and go, and I reuse my tumbler cup to encourage me to drink more water throughout the day and on the ride home.
So far I have been making my smoothies with
1 cup light and fit strawberry greek yogurt
1 medium banana
1 cup frozen fruit (no sugar added) - peaches, strawberries or mixed berry
1 1/3 of 30 calorie almond milk.
All around 300 calories makes a huge smoothie and keeps me full from 7am to 10ish (till I have an apple or something for a snack)
Just curious if anybodt else is doing smoothies for breakfast and what they use in theirs.
I do similar to the above but I use juice not milk and will add either granola or oats and some protein powder..0 -
Usually a green leaf, cucumber, celery, a fruit & a tablespoon of protein powder.
Today - Spinach, cucumber, celery, carrot, chocolate protein powder, 1/4 banana, 1/2 apple, handful of collards0 -
My protein smoothie! And it's delish
One scoop chocolate whey protein
Handful strawberries and blackberries
Couple spoonfuls of nonfat plain greek yogurt
Handful of baby spinach

Yes, raw Kale is tasteless (I think) and oh so good for you! A typical smoothie looks like this for me...
1/2 container 100 Greek Yogurt
1/2 cup raw spinach or kale
Bulker (Tablespoon of Chia Seeds or Flax)
1/2 cup berries (fresh or no sugar added frozen)
1/2 cup of another fruite, fresh pineapple, banana, or melon
I will sometimes add carrots or cucumber also. Happy Blending!0 -

Frozen fruit. I found bananas freeze great! Peel a ripe banana, cut into small pieces and freeze individually on a cookie sheet, then toss in a zip lock. Smoothie ready!
Kale - I sneak in 2 cups after the whole smoothie is blended. It gives it a great texture (make sure to blend A LOT) and is a sneaky way to get some powerful superfood veggies. My skin looked better almost immediatly, and I do it almost every day for the nutritional value. Smoothies can be high natural sugar, so if I can get some good green leafy veggies with all the fruit, I feel good about it! If you blend well, I swear you don't even know it's there. There is not a strong flavor, and as long as there aren't chunks to get stuck in your teeth, it adds a lot to your liquid meal.
Favorite "enhancements"
Almond butter - adds calories & fat but oh such a great flavor!
Flax seed - ground - adds calories, but give an nutty flavor and great nutrition
Canned pumpkin. Doesn't work with fruit except bananas, and only vanilla poweder, but is so good! Super creamy and tastes like a piece of pie
Juice of a lime - this is great in fruit heavy smoothies. i add it right the end of blending. It gives it a great zippy refreshing taste, but doesn't work with bananas. Strawberries, pineapple, mango go really well with lime.0 -
Breakfast smoothie is fat-free drinking yogurt with a banana and a pear. Or fat-free yogurt with frozen berries.0

Yep - the lime helps counterbalance the dulling of the flavor that can come from the spinach. Brightens it right back up.0 -

1c milk
1/4c cottage cheese
1 scoop chocolate protein powder
1 tbsp peanut butter (high on the calorie; try PB2)
1 handful baby spinach
6-8 cubes ice (you need lot since there is no fruit)
1-2 tbsp DARK chocolate powder

I made the best mango pineapple smoothie one time.
I used Great Value frozen mangos I just threw a few big pieces in there.
A cup of frozen pineapples I think Dole makes those
2-3 tablespoons of fat free plain yogurt
1/2 cup of milk 2%
2 table spoons of splenda
and mix all that in a blender0 -
My usual smoothie is:
200ml unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 scoop allmax hexapro vanilla protein powder
1 scoop Magnum Performance greens
1 medium banana

Whey protein powder (chocolate), blueberries, a strawberry, spinach, two teaspoons of strawberry Yoplait yogurt, about a cup of milk, and some ice0

Just got a smoothie maker, I had 1/2 cup of strawberry and banana with a cup of skim milk!!! Love it for breakfast!!!0
