5 things you have cut out!

The five things I have cut out that seem to be helping me the most are:
1. "Excuses" i.e. too hard, don't wanna, no time
2. Denial - I no longer pretend I didn't eat something. now that I use MFP, everything is logged and accounted for
3. My Gym Requirement - Turns out I don't need a gym to exercise! Duh!
4. Overall laziness has also been cut out. I find value in doing ANYthing that gets me off the couch/ desk chair!
5. The mindset that Pregnancy is a Free Pass - I learned from my 1st that "eating for two" is not the way to go about this. So far I have had a perfectly healthy level of weight gain and I'll be halfway next week!
P.S. I still pretty much eat what I want but have made the switch to healthier substitutions. Like: whole grain foods, fat free milk, more protein instead of the pure and processed junk I was (mostly) eating before. In the year +3 months since I started here, I have never once thought "I'm on a diet" and have always viewed this as a lifestyle change. It's the only way I've been able to keep the weight off for good.0 -
Soda and ice-cream.
Really, for me it was just cut portion sizes and choose healthier alterative.0 -

Hi everyone! I just joined 3 days ago and am trying to not cut out-but cut down on:
1) Soda
2) Ice Cream
3) Cheese Quesadillas (yum!)
4) Alcoholic beverages
5) Top Raman0 -
Here is what I have cut out:
Real sugar soda
French fries
Pretty much any type of fast food
Things I have ADDED to my diet in their place:
oranges
apples
pears
fresh green beans
fresh peas
fresh lima beans
fresh zucchini
Special K cereal
blueberries
salad
turkey
lettuce
grapes
baked potatoes
yogurt
WW fudge bars
Parmesan cheese on everything
Any other type of fresh produce I can get my hands on.
Notice how the list of things of things I have added is much larger than the things I have cut out...0 -
High Fructose Corn Syrup
Most sugar (still use Stevia and eat sweets occasionally)
Sodium (as much as possible)
Fast food (too hard to find food there that won't set off one of my medical conditions)
Pizza (cut WAY back, for the same reason as above)
'White' grains
White potatoes0 -
I actually have to follow Mom's advice and ADD to lose:
1- More fruits
2- more veggies
3- A tad more exercise, even walking helps a lot!
4- More water or diet drinks, than diuretics (caffeine, alcohol, soda)
5- More Fat free dairy, especially in cooking!
That said, I did find that
1- reducing my salt overall for several weeks, and
2- reducing takeout/fastfood
3- reduce alcohol
4- reduce the volume of French fries. REALLY
5- less crackers and cheese, more strawberries, pickles, carrots, and other crunchy stuff!

I've added asparagus, strawberries, salsa, cucumbers, organic tomatoes, various kinds of apples, avocado.0 -
Bravo on cutting back portion sizes. I plan extra snacks - fruit, cheese, veggies, hummus, etc throughout the day and am able to eat less at each meal. May it continue.0

I really can't think of anything I completely cut out. I've had sprite, cookies, cake, french fries, pizza, etc. Though I didn't have much. Since starting I've eaten a lot in moderation. Like every time I go shopping with my grandma we always stop at McDonalds for breakfast. Instead of having my typical order (3 breakfast burritos, my hash browns, plus my sisters hash browns, and a large soda) I instead get 1 burrito and a small sprite.0

1. Carbs (because they are the devil)
2. Meats (because if I eat them apparently I'm the devil)
3. Fruit (because of ALL THAT SUGAR)
4. Fats (because I want to lose it, not eat it)
5. Water (because, you know, can't have water retention if you don't drink water).

Are you crazy!? I wouldn't survive without bread, steak, oranges, bananas, peanut butter, and definitely not without water. Hopefully you're just joking.0 -

Wow!!! I just realise there are more people who said nothing!!! Thats inspiring too, in that case please share how do you guys still lose weight after eating all u like!
Just eating smaller portions of the same foods. Like yesterday, I bought a dove chocolate bar, broke off 3 pieces and gave the rest to my husband. By just eating smaller portions of things I enjoy, I have been losing weight easily. It's slow, but it is definitely coming off. I might have to change that as I get closer to my goal, but I'm hoping I won't.
As another poster said, eating what I want doesn't mean I eat a lot of it. It's still calories after all and overall calorie consumption is what needs to be watched.
I did the same thing just now. I'm starving and waiting for my husband to come home to make dinner, so I decided to eat the rest of my chocolate bar in the fridge. I then gave 3/4 of that to my kids when I realized it would be 240 calories. Not worth it for a candy bar that will be gone in five seconds!0 -
Not a thing. I prefer moderation as opposed to cutting things out. I would fail a "diet" within a week if I had to cut some of the aforementioned items out of my diet.
This... To me there is NO such thing as a "no no" food... All in moderation... However, that said, I rarely have fast food and/or restaurant anymore... And, if I do, I try to behave, but if I don't, it's okay...0 -

None of these have been cut out completely in that I don't have them at all, but the behaviours have been "cut out" and changed for the better.
1. Drinking 1-2 pints of milk per day. Whilst milk certainly isn't bad for you, at 250cals per pint it's rather "expensive" calorie-wise. I'll now have a half-pint glass and enjoy it rather than sinking a pint or two in seconds.
2. Mayonnaise with dinner.
3. McDonalds/KFC for lunch at work. I still have McD's or KFC occasionally, but certainly not the 3-4 times per week I used to.
4. Constant nibbling on cheese. Me and my boyfriend would buy in a small block of cheese each week (depending on what looked tasty at the deli and what was on offer etc), not for any cooking purposes but just to slice a bit off every now and again. We still do this, but less frequently and I'm a lot more careful about how much I eat (he thinks I'm mad for weighing out 15-20g of cheese).
5. Huge portions. I've found by filing my plate with salad I'll eat less of the calorie-dense foods and still be satisfied. I've also found that bulking out a recipe with lots of veggies can make a dish stretch over 2 nights for me + my boyfriend, rather than just the one. (My boyfriend has commented before that he has to play "hunt the meat" in my cottage pie..)0 -

I haven't cut out a thing, I eat what I want as long as it fits into my daily calorie count and macros.0

No longer on meds for type 2 Diabetes and labs are 65% better over all health since November and tbh I dont miss any of that stuff!0 -

one thing that i should give up but I know that if I deprive myself I would only end up bingeing on it eventually.....CHOCOLATE!0 -
cut out elastic waist pants except for tight gym ones

cut out buffets except chinese, seems i can handle that0 -
Soda.
Fast food.
Store bought sugary baked goods. I will eat one or two if someone makes them from scratch.0 -
I haven't cut anything completely out, but I eat less than before and cut way back on sodas. I went from three a day to maybe one every three to four days.0

For weight loss? Nothing. Everything in moderation. Never let yourself feel deprived.
For other reasons?
Fast food: because it makes me nauseous
Bananas: because they give me horrible stomach pains
Gluten: because it gives me migraines and stomach aches.
It's all about what works for you and taking good care of your body.0
