I do not log it here, on MFP. I can plank for a min or longer now, but at first, just 10 seconds or so. I usually just do a few mins/day.0

Oh Okay! Yeah.. it looks to be hard work.. I havent tried it yet.. but I seen a 30-Day challenge for it.. and was curious on if I'd be able to do it~ lol0 -
I plank for about 60 seconds right now, since I just started back at it about a month ago. I keep to 2-3 during my weight training sessions. I don't really count them in my calorie burn.0

Planking is not my favorite part of my weekly workout session with the trainer, but I can do about 30 - 40 seconds at a time. I started out at about 15 seconds, so there's improvement I know I can really feel it in my stomach, and I need a lot of help in that area, so I'll grumble, but I'll plank!!0

I hate planks. When I started doing them I could only hold it for about 20 seconds. Now I can get three sets of 90 seconds, but I still hate them. ☺0

I do planks daily. I do 2-3 & 2 minutes each. My goal is to eventually be able to do 1 for 5 mins.0

I do three sets of 30 seconds each before I'm *done*. I've had a LOT of abdominal surgeries with many organs removed and/or repaired, so I'm feeling pretty darned good about being able to do that much!0

I think I'm doing them wrong, I just tried for the first time and it was too easy, and I'm not particularly fit at all.. :ohwell: Any tips for the RIGHT way to plank?? :blushing:0

Love planks. Side planks really help your obliques. There are also modified planks you can do on your knees until you get strong enough (as long as you don't have any knee issues-but keep in mind it can be hard on your knees, so please be careful).0

Used to hate them. Don't bother with them anymore, way too easy. At about 45 seconds there ceases to be any useful adatations outside of the ability to plank longer, which isn't really all that useful unless you're into planking contests or something of the sort.0

I plank daily worked up to 3 sets of 40 seconds each, when I started I could do 10 seconds. I just write them in the notes section.0

You need to keep your butt down and engage your abs. You can plank from your forearms/elbow or by placing your hands under your shoulders.0

If it's really easy and you're not especially fit, you may not have correct form. You are probably not engaging your abs to do them.

I do sets of 2 minute planks.. It is the longest 2 minutes ever. We also do side planks in body pump.
I read that you do not do planks for calorie burn more for core strength.0 -
I got talked into a ridiculous plank session a while back.
Feet on a yoga ball, then, each forearm goes on a yoga ball.
Plank 30 seconds, do a "pushup" where you butterfly your arms out like on a butterfly machine. Then back up for another 30 seconds of plank.
Wash rinse and repeat without stoppage for 5 minutes.0 -

Yes. Regular planks + side planks
I do them with elbows on ground, elbows on bosu ball and elbows on a small swiss ball. Different levels of resistance and impact to core. Balls make it hard (no pun intended.. trust me).

I plank daily. Sometime for just a minute sometime for 3-4 minutes. Planking and I have a love hate relationship but I need planking in my life lol
Also, for the good form / bad form pic...... it's great. But keep in mind it clearly looks like the bad form girl is a beginner. Good form girl has been planking for awhile.
Keep planking and form gets better the stronger you get

I love Side planks with hip lifts the most followed by walking arm plank
I found I can plank for days since I squat, DL and do Good Mornings0 -
I do it most often as part of a circuit training set with my heart rate high from a more active state, so I count them in that mix. Thanks to the above poster about the form that comes with strength. Great tip! I think I like them because they are a bit more new to the exercise scene and there is a competitive element to them. I have a kitchen timer that counts up...works great. I sit it down in front of my arms so that I don't have to count. : )0

Those are high plank variations! And kudos for doing them.
OP, try to hold a plank for as long as you can. then repeat. Try to beat your previous time the next round. Make sure you keep your form. no sense in doing 1 min if your form is sloppy0 -
Am I the only one who thought planking was when you lay down across a surface you would normally not lay across. See, you learn something new everyday0

My personal best is 2 minutes, 27 seconds---I usually go for just over 2 minutes when I plank.0
