But...
Is milk chocolate considered dairy?
What I mean is, does it have enough milk in it to affect my sinuses?
( I get stuffy and all that grossness when I have milk/dairy products)

Most definitely. It has enough milk (mostly milk) and milk causes mucus. Avoiding dairy will help this. You can substitute it with coconut milk or almond milk.
I am really not sure if you are talking about chocolate milk or milk chocolate candy?0 -
Dumb blonde joke?0

Like a milk chocolate dove bar? Depends what you are allergic to, I guess. My husband was allergic to casein (milk protein) and he couldn't have even tiny amounts. Other people who are just sensitive could prob hack the dairy in milk chocolate no problem.0

It's milk with chocolate so yeah if you can't drink milk don't drink the stuff.0

Haha wow I do feel dumb now.
I don't drink chocolate milk though.0 -
absolutely.
so is anything with whey or casien.0 -
Okay that's what I thought. I don't think it's a dumb question, it's just probably not one any of us can answer because we don't know what in dairy you're reacting to.0

Upsetting, but thank you.0 -

Also recently I've been having a few chocolate chips at night and I've been stuffy again.0 -
I'm gonna admit, I thought you were either out of it or just kinda dumb because I thought you meant chocolate milk. I think I would consider it dairy, and if you're not sure, I'd stay away anyway, just in case (sad as it is!)0

read the ingredient list. If it contains milk products or lactose, I'd stay away. Sounds like you're pretty sensitive to something in dairy.0
-
I'm not that dumb guys haha but thanks for being nice about it0

Depends on what it is in the dairy that affects you.
For me it's the type of protein, I can eat greek yogurt and certain brands of milk and am perfectly fine while others can make my lips/cheeks swell, extreme indigestion and/or severe stomach cramps, etc.
Alternative if you are not sure what it is that affects you is to take a nibble, wait 24 hours if you have NO reaction then you can eat it. That has been my standby for a long time now when it comes to dairy.0 -
Just try a darker chocolate and see how you get on.
I am sensitive to milk, but fine with certain other dairy products.0 -
yes its milk. milk is dairy0
-
any milk is dairy0

no problem... everyone has those moments. a friend of mine once argued with me -- insisted peanut butter had dairy because it was made with peanuts and butter. made funnier because at the time i was getting my peanut butter direct from an in-store peanut grinder. go figure.0 -

sounds like it is that... you might be able to get soya versions of milk chocolate... or train your tastebuds to like dark chocolate0 -
Oh Dear Lord I will pray for thy stupid question. No such thing ad a stupid question, only stupid people.....0

You could always eat it and see if it affects you. I get what you're saying about dairy, but I've never had that issue with milk chocolate.0

Have you had an allergy test? If it affects your sinuses, it could be a serious allergy. Peanut butter, even in trace amounts, used to affect my sinuses. I loved it and ate it anyway. One day, my sister made homemade peanut butter cups. Delicious...until my throat started getting itchy in addition to my sinuses swelling. Then I went into anaphylactic shock. Good times. But not really because I almost died.
Dairy doesn't affect my sinuses, but makes me projectile vomit. Even small amounts of milk chocolate. So...my point is, be careful and don't ask on a random website for other people's opinions.0 -

Since it was just a stuffy nose reaction I didn't quite take it as seriously.
I'll look into it with my doctor.0 -

Sorry, I didn't mean to freak you out. By "affecting my sinuses," I mean that I could literally feel sinus pressure within seconds of eating peanuts/peanut butter. It wasn't just a stuffy nose. But I still suggest getting tested by some sort of doctor. And in any case, even if it is just an intolerance, clearly your body is sending you a message.

if you were allergic to it, you would break out in hives. being itchy, abdominal pain, anaphylactic shock.... stuffy nose would be least of your problems0

What happens when you eat it? It doesn't matter if it's "considered" dairy or not, if it causes unpleasant side effects for you, don't eat it. There! Wasn't that simple?0 -
