Am I counting incorrectly?

Hi, I'm 19, male, 6ft, 86kg, 12% bodyfat at the moment. Also a beginner on this site.
Being a dancer/acrobat, I know that to feel good and able to train without being tired or groggy I would need around 1700 calories.
BUT! (wait for it..) whenever I seem to input my meals I struggle to make 1700 calories, but feel fine and have been training okay. I make sure to get the servings and measurements correct too. Am I doing something wrong?
If not, any tips you could share to make sure everything is spot on for the day?

Are you using a food scale? Do you look for the database entries that don't have an asterisk (those are entered from the USDA database) or check the information against the package? Do you count cooking oil/butter, coffee creamer, etc?

Angel is right, if you had your diary open we could see what's going on. I found when I first joined this site that I wasn't being completely honest with myself about what I was eating, or I completely misjudged the amount. It's important to figure out how things weight, there are some tricks you can use like:
