I don't go to Subway anymore after reading an article about their bread and fertizlier. As with anything, I'm sure it's fine with moderation, but if I want to get a sub, we usually go to Jimmy John's.

Other then the veggies, subway is ALL JUNK. The bread is 280 calories just for a 6 inch and is loaded with cheap starches and fertilizer bi-products. The meats and cheeses are very processed and loaded with sodium. A sub there can easily top 1000 calories if you have dressing meat and cheese on there, even a salad can be pushing it. Why waste $5 on a salad anyway when you can make one at home for much cheaper that is WAY healthier?

Because if we wanted to eat at home, we would have.

You freaking party pooper.

My favorite is the Smokehouse BBQ Chicken. It's a sometimes deal so I only go when it's there. Wheat is NOT my friend but I can't resist it the once or twice a year it's on the menu. Add spinach, onions, pickles, black olives and brown mustard...so yummy!

    Jimmy Johns French bread :
Enriched Bleached Dough (Wheat Flour, Malted Barley Flour, Reduced Iron, Thiamine Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid), Water, Yeast, Sea Salt, Dough Improver (Cultured Wheat Flour Sponge, Monocalcium Phosphate, Calcium Sulfate, Salt, Ammonium Chloride,
    > Ammonium Sulfate, <
Ascorbic Acid, Calcium Peroxide), Calcium Propionate (A Preservative), Dough Conditioner (Calcium Sulfate, L-Cysteine Monohydrochloride, Tricalcium Phosphate), Partially Hydrogenated Soybean/Cottonseed Oil, Dough Conditioner (Wheat Starch, Azodicarbonamide (ADA), Calcium Iodate, Enzymes, Calcium Stearate, Silicon Dioxide)

    Allergen: Contains Wheat

    Wonder Bread:

Whole Wheat Flour, Water, Wheat Gluten, Sugar, Yeast. Contains 2% or Less of: Cottonseed Fiber, Soy Fiber, Calcium Carbonate, Honey Salt, Wheat Flour, Vinegar, Natural Flavor, Cellulose Gum, Soybean Oil , Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate, Ethoxylated Mono and Diglycerides, Mono and Diglycerides, Calcium Sulfate, ---->Ammonium Sulfate, <
Calcium Propionate (to Retain Freshness), Yeast Extract, Barley Malt, Xanthan Gum, Guar Gum Enzymes, Vitamin E Acetate , Ferrous Sulfate (Iron), B Vitamins [Niacin, Thiamine Mononitrate (B1), Riboflavin (B2), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (B6), Folic Acid, Vitamin B12], Soy Lecithin, Calcium Dioxide, Monocalcium Phosphate, Azodicarbonamide, Ascorbic Acid, Stevia Extract (Natural Sweetener) , Vitamin D3, Zinc Oxide, Soy Flour, Whey.

Many bread companies use Ammonium Sulfate. It's a very common component of commercial bread.
I'm in no way saying it's right or wrong. I'm just saying look at your labels before believing everything you read on the internet. Subway is not the only one using it...

Also in fertilizer the amount of ammonium sulfate is much higher than what is found in bread (or deemed safe by the FDA).

I don't work for subway but have been known to enjoy a 6" turkey on honey oat, no cheese with sweet onion when I go there. Yum! :)

I am also a Subway Addict!! I love subway, even had it for dinner last night and lunch today. 6 inch roast beef on wheat, no cheese, loaded with veggies and jalapenos. The only sauce is vinegar! Sooooooo YUMMY!!! I even have enough points on my card to get two free six inches!!!

Interesting. Glad I haven't eaten at either place in awhile then. I also gave up diet pop (I drink no pop now).

I loveee subway! I get one if I've forgotten to make my own lunch for work, and I pass one of the way to work so I just grab one.
I always get the same, but the bread changes!
6" Veggie patty on any bread I feel like, with cheese, lettuce, tomato, peppers, cucumber, and light mayo. I think it's about 320 calories, that's what I've been told anyway.
    Yummy lunch!

This is definetly more then 320 calories. The bread alone is 280, and the cheese is 40 cal a slice. Don't know about the patty.

Where are you getting your information from? On Subways website it has the calories listed, the Italian bread is 210 calories, and none of the other breads are listed at 280 calories and the only cheese that's 40 calories are the cheddars on the entire sandwich, not just one slice.
