Not exactly sure what language you mean, as all curse words are filtered out by MFP.

What qualifies as offensive? Is it just expletives or is it being sexually suggestive? Is it expressing a dislike of certain lifestyles or behaviors? I think if we all tried to not offend anyone there wouldn't be anything to say. Perhaps the internet is not the place for you.0

I cannot see this thread ending well0 -

Hahaha! That was going to be my point as well.
Not sure which words the OP finds profane or offensive on the boards, as at least MOST of them are censored automatically. :laugh:0 -
Where I have been known to use the occasional curse word... I usually use cute little characters to get the point across online #$%&*. However... seriously? We're going to take time away from answering SUPER importantant (yet repetitive) weight loss questions to address the profanity issue among adults on these boards?
And I might add I have a friend that always says things like "that was so stinkin' cute" and it annoys the holy crap out of me.0 -
why does suck it up cupcake come to mind?0

I find body shaming and misuse of apostrophes far more offensive than dropping Fbombs.0

Please people, please stop using questionable language on the board. Some people are offended by what you say so lets keep it clean. Thank You - I suppose you are going to tell me if I don't like it, go somewhere else - well I just might do that.

I'm confused. Were you not aware that you can report offensive posts and that moderators will delete said offensive posts?
Edited to add - And this site uses filters so how could you possibly see offensive language. Is the implication of it too much for you?0 -
I'm with Stephen Fry on this one. Offense is incredibly subjective, and stating that one is offended serves no meaning or purpose. Someone could be offended by nearly any statement or behavior, which other people find completely acceptable. If there is something I personally dislike, I ignore it (if it's not actually harmful) or remove myself from the situation. No one else cares that I'm offended (nor should they), and I certainly don't care if someone is offended by my non-harmful speech or behavior. That's all there is to it. Bringing it up just attracts unnecessary drama.0

See? I was trying to "keep it clean"0 -
putain de bordel de merde.
I do it with class0 -
It's an easy day on the forum when the OP posts their point, my point, and their response to my point without me having to do anything. I'm nonplussed by this balderdash!0
-
OP, I'm thinking that based on the comments in this thread, things won't change. I really think you should ask myfitnesspal.com for a full refund .0

I don't think this is in the right forum section. I have not felt any general diet or weight loss help. Please try to stick to the right forums when you are attacking people for doing things you don't like. Can we get this moved to Chit Chat?0

hmmm..... have you never heard offensive language in your life? Skip the topics that seem to go that way, and respond to the topics that stay inoffensive.
Words are just words, they really can't hurt you. If you don't like certain language maybe you should stay away from the boards, as we are all adults here.
I certainly have, and used it. I spent over 10 years in the Royal Navy, but this is not, nor should not be, a messdeck on a frigate
Time & a place for everything
Hitting your thumb with a hammer may be reason to swear, sitting typing at a keyboard is not
Casual swearing is not adult, it is childish
but whining about the words little Timmy says is 100%adult!
I get that you think there is a time and place for everything. As do I. I swear. Rarely do I swear here, and I never swear at work, and never around my child. Those are the things I can control. Those are the things I want to do in order to present myself. It's like how I dress is my choice and how I dress for different places will change depending on the context.
But I won't try to tell or dictate how someone else speaks in order to get their point across any more than I would tell another adult how to dress.0 -

I have definitely lost brain mass.0 -
I use the same language on the forums as I do infront of my 84 year old grandmother..I dont see that changing any time soon.
You AND your grandma are invited over for dinner any time0 -
Even more offensive than profanity is people posting threads in the wrong forum. For example, a thread about profanity/language has nothing to do with "General Diet and Weight Loss Help", and doesn't belong in that forum....I suppose you are going to tell me if I don't like it, go somewhere else - well I just might do that.
