No. I don't do Facebook anymore. WAY too much religion and politics, both equally repulsive.0

Nooooo, definitely not. I annoy my family and friends on Facebook enough with posts about my kiddos and other things they probably don't need to know about my life, but I choose to share anyway...I'm sure they would rather not know (nor would they care) when I've dropped a pound or went down a pants size!

Nope, when I first started here I didn't want all those people to know the details of my weight loss journey. Now, I don't care who knows but I just don't feel the need to connect it to Facebook.0

I don't because I think it would annoy some people and give others an excuse to have more of a look into my life than I'd be happier for them to have.
I have pictures of me now on facebook looking a lot better than I did and have had lots of compliments and people asking how I did it, then I'll respond publicly and tell them.0 -

I make a weekly post commenting on my progress and referencing the ever growing list of things I intend to be able to do. I also posted a few pictures. Otherwise, I hang out around here. MFP is better than Facebook anyway.0

Absolutely not! I have weightloss friends on this and another forum. I have family and work people on FB. They don't need to know all of the details. LOL!0

This is more of a personal journey for me. There are definitely "friends" (more like acquaintances) on Facebook that I don't really feel like sharing such things with. I'm sure when I reach my goals it'll (hopefully) show in pictures on Facebook, if people ask I'll divulge a little.
MFP is my homepage and I actually check it more than Facebook these days0 -

No, I don't want those friends to hate themselves even more when they keep seeing my progress posts. Nor, do I want them to hide my comments because they're sick of seeing my progress. This is the only community to share that info, because this is the only community that gives a ****.0

I haven't had a FB in a while, but I still wouldn't link the two if I did. For me, this is a much more personal matter and I wouldn't want people I was friends with 10 years ago in high school to know or see it. If we happen to run into each other in person and they notice weight loss, then thats fine.0

Most people do not want to hear you droning on and on about eating healthy foods, exercising and losing a pound. Eventually, the pictures you post will show off your progress and dedication, and those who are interested will ask you about your methods.
People often mistake lack of interest in the details of their every idea and action as a lack of support. You really don't need every person you've ever met to provide constant attention, encouragement and compliments in order to succeed. You just need a good plan, some discipline and self-motivation to reach your goals.
I don't mention my health and fitness behaviors to anyone unless they specifically ask me how I've accomplished my goals.0 -

And since I've become active on MFP, I rarely go on FB anymore.0 -
I keep them separate. Just as I don't post EVERYTHING on FB and Twitter, I don't post it all here, either.
If people wanted to know the details of my nutrition and exercise, they can ask. Or they can friend me here.
I can see the flipside, though. For some people, they post fitness and weight loss progress on FB to help hold themselves accountable. I've noticed that the majority of those people aren't on MFP, so to each their own. MFP holds me accountable, some people use FB or Twitter.0 -

Up until I had lost 65lbs, I posted nothing about what I had been doing from a health perspective on facebook.
Many of my friends live overseas so they had no clue. At 65lbs I made a comment that said something like "And now there is 25% less" - a few people worked out what that meant and I had lots of people asking me to post a pic.
When I hit minus 70lbs I posted the first photo of me and had 60 responses within a couple of hours. Most people were shocked but everyone supported me.
Now I post my training runs and my running goals. I get lots of positive comments on those including comments from a guy I know who is a marathon runner/ triathalon competitor. I really value his opinion.
I've had numerous friends ask me how I did it and at least 4 friends who are now trying to do the same thing. One of them messaged me the other day to tell me she had lost 10lbs since we spoke.
I still don't have MFP linked to facebook and never will because I am ultimately responsible and accountable for that side of things.... besides I dont want to bore my friends too much0 -
I don't link MFP to Facebook... I get enough questions in real life about the new healthy me. I am on MFP for fitness support!0

No, it's easy on here as everyone here seems to be on the same page with support and loosing weight, not everyone is like that on FB.0

Nope! I like having them separate. People on Facebook don't really get it. Most of my friends in real life (who are also my friends on Facebook) are very fit and thin. Very few would understand the joy I get from being able to run for 20 minutes straight or being able to do a workout video using (gasp!) five pound weights. They might want to be supportive, but it's hard for them when their fitness victories involve being able to run half-marathons, etc. The few real-life friends that I want to keep updated about my journey, I do so more directly. Otherwise, I love MFP because no one here will belittle my accomplishments that may seem so insignificant to the average, healthy person.0

No I don't (didn't even know you could haha), I don't post any numbers (weight/measurements), but I sometimes post pics showing how big my old clothes were, or include some of my work out stuff on my status updates.0

I do NOT link MFP with Facebook and won't. People here on MFP are supportive and understand the trials, tribulations and triumphs that go along with this journey. I do not need to waste time with filling in those who can't/ won't understand or are overly critical without the understanding of what goes into such a journey. My MFP friends are super supportive and all I need. I can miss FB for a while, but I ALWAYS have MFP with me where ever I go! :bigsmile:0

I am with most people here - I don't link it and I have not discussed my weight loss regimen with very many people.I don't mind posting pictures from hikes I take and I posted today about my bike ride. Most of the people on there knew me when I was very thin, and they already know I have gained about 85 pounds (or that I have gained). This is probably all in my head, but i feel like sharing a lot of details about my weight loss would encourage people to focus on my weight as an interface for interaction. This journey feels more personal to me than even my work in therapy - I prefer to share it with people on a common journey. I don't view this as coming back from a defeat or fixing something that is broken - I view it as a transformation and shuffling off the baggage that has been there whether I was thick or thin, and that led to the weight gain in the first place. I am not sure my friends from high school or my former grad school colleagues would necessarily understand that.0

No, because my Facebook contacts are for other interests and frankly because I can think of a few who would not be supportive or positive in any way. Facebook is where the fattening recipies come from.0
